Published in the Star-Telegram on 4/6/2004. Gertie J. Couch, 105, a homemaker, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004, at home. Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Blair Brown, John Nation, Hunter Nation, Dick Nation, Andy Nation and Bruce Nation. Memorials: Grand Prairie Public Library. Gertie was born Oct. 18, 1898, in Enloe. She was a resident of Grand Prairie since 1905. In 1935, she organized the Grand Prairie Library. She was a member of Grand Prairie First United Methodist Church and an active leader when she was younger. Gertie helped organize the Grand Prairie Study Club, which she continued to attend right up to the last. Survivors: Daughter-in-law, Lillie R. Couch of Grand Prairie; nieces, Sue Brown of Gainesville and Betty Justice of Dallas; nephew, John R.
