The DNA test have Alread proved that. Thomas Couch And Elizabeth Jessup family is a descendant of Simon Couch of Fairfield Ct. I made no mention of Thomas in this post, I refered to "mis info" on the web and on internet trees that present mis-info. No doubt its proven locked up tight and nailed shut Martin is the son of John Couch of Kentucky.Thats not DNA nor "internet files" That documented family history non verbal. I have two family bibles one of William Couch whom married Eliza Baker and another. Both clearly show the line down to them in the close family unit. No mention as to Johns parents or brothers sisters BTW did you see my yesterdays post on WHO set the date for John Couch birth of 1750? Was it somehow just assummed or was it you in the quest for placement of Thomas Couch. I just wondered, and if It was a old JP Doward file...non documented John Couch of Kentucky did indeed die in Kentucky in 1830.. He was listed as age 86. That would make his birth 1744. well within the bounds for one of the migrating familys from northern regions. I dont think our John {me & others} was born NC, as the published tree indicates. I do believe he was form Northern states and came into Northern Va, not the eastern side. I myself would like to see a Crouch dna cross match to Couch form colonial lines. To many indications lead one to believe they were both in the same. A land deed in Va was made out to John Crouch but signed by John Couch. The historical data in Parson Wva indicate that a John Crouch settled there, but in later documents it was changed to John Couch. deeds back up this . Correction Land Grant via the Crown. In conclusion do you have any idea where the birthdate for John Couch came from? As there is no record of his birth, someone had to come up with it. If there is a source for his birthdate , then his parents have to be so noted...
Let me share a story with you about the line of Couch DNA that I come from. My grandmother was Ora Emma Couch dau of Orrel G. Couch who is the son of John Couch who died in KY in 1840. Now this is where the fun comes in> > On a death certificate of one of the sons of Ora Emma Couch in the place for the last name of the mother (who was Ora Emma Couch) the person furnishing the info stated "Unknown". OK that isn't that big a deal, I suppose, but when I went to the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Oklahoma City, OK and requested a copy of her death certificate they told me she was listed as dead. However they were gracious and kept my ten dollars just to keep the records straight. I then went to the court house in the county where she lived at her death and got the court proceedings when they cleared the estate. Listing all the sons, their wives and my grandfather but no death date so the moral of this story is my grandmother is in never-never land and has been since 1922. Statistics may not lie but statisticians surely do good searching. ellen
