For some reason I have always had my doubts about the group that went to Franklin Co.Ga and then to Bedford Co. Tenn. as being the son of old Thomas, But I can't prove it either way, and I really don't think anyone else can either. Both John's are about the same age and both Joseph are about the same age. Less hear everyone opinion on this. Bill Couch Well now you asked, and I will unload ! {grin} No dates for John Couch {married to Elizabeth} have ever been documented i.e birth or we would know his father and mother. Im thiking his reported birth date is off and needs to be earlier by 5-10 years. I was getting NOWHERE reading the NC info on him and as I seen it it was beating a deadhorse trying to pin him down in NC or even having him acknowledged. After all he is just sitting there in a genalogy void. Bit with extensive readin of VA/Wva history and accounts. I am more convinced than ever he and Joseph are brothers. I dont know if its the same line of John/Joseph on your side or not. Yours shows Buckingham I believe in Va. and then to TN?? Was this before NC let TN lands go?? I dont know John {married Elizabeth} is the son of Thomas.. Or even have reference to it. I do have accounts of John/Joseph having been in western VA. then NC I have found no direct documents or accounts of Thomas being close to John/Joseph. I have found Austin and also Ance in the same areas in 1740-1765 timeframes. All within a days ride. It is also noted that this "john/joseph that I speak of are noted for being WEST of the mountain range not EAST. Therefore denoting the eastern migration path possible down from PA or Ct having decended in one accound the Ohio Basin and in another counter claim into western VA to the New river to Charleston {present day Wva} thence down the Kananwha to the Ohio. Accounts goes both ways on this. "A" John and Joseph are always close together in VA and also NC till 1806 ish.... A older Joseph Couch never showed up in Kentucky like John whom married elizabeth did. I think this due to the close ties of the Calloway family/Combs and Campbells I believe John had more involvement with them. waht I would be interested in , is knowing if Thomas Couch had any Tory or Loyalist ties. In conclusion I think the dates are on on the John Couch of Ky as to his birth. I think Joseph was and is his brother.. I have no knowledge if their father was Thomas or not. I do have knowledge that a Austin Couch brn abt 1734-1740 was in some way relation. I do think the John couch of Ky was prior linked in some way to the Lewis family and the Calloways and Combs. How that is linked I dont know.. But they sure turn up alot in same areas and I mean Close. Our John may have come from eastern Va on imagration of his family. But I think it more proper his family was from PA or northern colonies. I do think the john of Ky did indeed marry a Mary Boone. I dont believe at present she was Boone blood though, I forsee them being wed in Va and having stayed there till later 1770,s And having possible made trips into Nc. I believe the children of the union were born in Va having later settled in Nc As for the father of John or Joseph.. its a unknown at this time.. Unless I can find a Thomas Couch in Randolph or the Tygerts Valley area. I.e in or around the present day Parsons W Wa Has this been answered? Or has it to been bypassed
