Exec. Robert Middleton and William Cooch Simonton. These are all on the Calendar of Delaware Wills, New Castle Co., 1682-1800. Nancy Certainly would be well worth the effort to do so ! Myself I have concentrated on VA/PA area for the present digging for one key family person. It should be noted strong evidence denotes the Couch clan did change spellings. It may have to do with the Tory,s Loyalists. Im not sure whom is the oldest proven Couch in NC that may have been from northern regions. It appears most are stuck on assumming they were from Jamestown/Williamsburg area. But consideration is not given to the coastal brigs that ran down the coast to other areas, once the immigration port had been landed. The transportation system via the coast was really rather complex. And most were not documented I.E land Deleware.... year later take a coastal on down to other areas. I also highly wonder if the taker of the info for the time new how to spell the last name?? Its highly clear in alot of census records they had not a clue so a varient spelling was placed. Ive found this in VA records where a land deed was drawn up and the body of the legal description was given THEN they wrote the "apparent" spelling of the name.... But when the person signed it, it was different. It would be interesting to see, what and whom came into Deleware with the Couch name and in what time frame. I know one thing the Brewsters and the Gists were well known familys of the time. So inner marriage with Couch people should be well documented. A well known ship company that handled transport of people and goods from Nothern areas to southern areas was the Bacon Co having a total of some 20 odd ships. Yes Deleware/NJ/CT woould be a absolute good place to check, if you have a known person you are looking for.
