Bill L. Couch ask me about the change that FTDNA did to their report. I could not answer him so I wrote to them asking about if we was compairing Aples to Aples on our results and below is the answer we got. I still don't know if they have updated the printout or not . but the chart still show the same as if I make a printout from their page. Bill Couch -- Hi there Bill - all apples and apples. After the 19 of May/2003, as stated, values were adjusted down to bring them in line not only with all of those in our database that would be tested from that point forward, but to be in line with the nomenclature of the scientific community at large on these markers as well. For comparison purposes, everything is as it should be, throughout our database. Please read below: In the interest of the standardization of allelic values across genealogical testing services, Family Tree DNA adopts the conventional nomenclature (allele repeat naming system) described in the scientific literature for each of our loci. Moreover, the testing laboratory at the University of Arizona has been actively identifying novel markers and publishing the standardized nomenclature systems. DYS464 is one of the novel markers that was put into use by Family Tree DNA several months before the publication of the nomenclature. For the past year and a half we have been scoring this locus using our initial nomenclature. During the finalization of the nomenclature for publication the complete data set showed that the initial system was one repeat too long. At this time we are not aware of any other genealogical testing services offering DYS464, so our use of the initial nomenclature has not been a source of confusion. Family Tree DNA considers DYS464 to be one of the most useful markers for genealogical reconstruction, and since we have published the necessary information for the amplification and scoring of DYS464 in the scientific literature (Redd et al. 2002), we anticipate that it may eventually be adopted by other genealogical testing services. In the interest of continuing our efforts to promote standardization in this industry, we will adjust the values for all of the alleles of DYS464 down by one allele in concordance with the published nomenclature system for this locus. We will be automatically updating the records of all of our clients. Since we have been completely consistent in our treatment of DYS464 this change will have no impact in your comparison with other clients, because all DYS464 values will be adjusted in the same fashion.
