BREAKTHROUGH YIPPERS!!! My Elihue Couch is found! Look what a wonderful lady in the Hazard ky., Clerk of Courts, named Bernice looked up, copied and mailed it to me. Just got it today and am so excited I cant stand it lol. This is my Elihue Couch for sure.. no question about that. Now I have a question? Does anyone know if Delphia is considered the Big Leatherwood area? Elihu Couch age 66, widower, born Perry Co. Ky. residence Delphia in Perry Co. Ky. & Hetty Sizemore age 61 was born Leslie Co Ky. residence Delphia Ky., were married Feb 7,1919 at Delphia Ky., by J S Horn & witnesses were James Bailey (aunt Martha's husband & Elihu's son-in-law) and Hobson Horn. My main clue for finding this marriage record came about from the Perry Co.Ky., marriage list Kathy Couch Latshaw transcribed, primiarly for the Combs Group. It had Elihu Couch and Hetty Sizemore listed as being married in 1919. If not for Kathys hard work and dedication to helping us find our lost ancestors, I would still be lurking back in the dark ages with this :-). Thank You so much, Kathy. Fay
This is great! Congrats Fay and thanks too for the encouragement. Love to see those walls crumble. You've got a great start at sorting some of those Johns and Toms too! This is a real shot in the arm! ....Maybe there's hope for mine yet :-) Now....the next big question is......Who was Elihu's father, Thomas Sr. who died Aug 11, 1858? It is commonly accepted that he is son of Martin but I've never seen evidence to support that. As you know, I have a copy of Return of a Death from microfilm, Perry Co. Vital Statistics at the Kentucky state archives. The name of Thomas Couch Sr's father is definitely not Martin. It is very old and faded but without doubt begins with a J. If anyone else out there wants to take a crack at it, just write me off list and I'll send a copy. Would love to hear some more thoughts on this.
