Bessie Mae Couch was my grandmother. She was born 28 March 1886, in Abilene, Tayler Co, Texas. Bessie had at least one brother, Claud J Couch. Claud was born 26 June 1892 in Pauls Valley, Garvin Co, Oklahoma. I believe Bessie had a second brother, Cordy Couch, born abt. 1890. I don't have any verifiable information about Cordy. I have yet to find documentation of any of the Couch siblings' whereabouts as children. Bessie's mother and stepfather are on the 1900 Garvin Co., Indian Territory, Chickasaw Nation census; but none of the Couch children are listed with them. Bessie married John Wesley Paddack Jr at her mother's home in Oklahoma on 25 July 1905. A six-year-old niece, Dora Couch, is listed with John and Bessie in the 1920 Craig Co Oklahoma census. Who was Dora's father? I do not have the date of birth of Bessie's father, John Franklin Couch. Bessie did not know where John Franklin was born, but Claud said it was Mississippi. John Franklin Couch died close to the date of Claud's birth. John Franklin is buried in an unmarked grave in the old Pauls Valley, Garvin Co, Oklahoma cemetery. Bessie died in Purcell, McClain Co, Oklahoma 23 July 1970. Claud died 16 August 1980 in Baytown, Harris Co, Texas. Margaret Paddack
