I've come across a record, "Return of a Death" that appears to be for Thomas Couch Sr. b. 1809-1812 NC, m. Elizabeth Campbell, d. August 11, 1858. They are in the 1850 Perry Co. KY census. This document is very poor and hard to read but includes the following information in part: Age, 49 yrs Condition, married Occupation, farmer Residence, Big Creek, Perry Co. KY born, " " " Name of parents/owner: ? John or James ? Death, August 11, 1858 Any records I've seen on this Thomas have him as s/o Martin Couch. I've scanned it best I can and perhaps someone else can make out the father's name? I am certain it begins with a "J" but not sure about the rest. There is another Couch whose father was John opposite this image, same hand writing and comparison helps a bit. Is there anyone working on this particular family? >From what I understand, these records were used by ministers, physicians, etc, person who last attended the deceased, then they were submitted to the county then on to state.
