Joyce, Thanks for the update. So, now we know that Mary Elizabeth Boon was first wife of John Couch in Virginia in 1774. Do we know where in Virginia? I have recently visited Lunenburg County, Virginia and saw Couches Creek where Thomas Couch received a land grant there in 1720. Also in Lunenburg County (previously Pirnce George and then Brunswick County beginning in 1832) during that time period were: JOHN COUCH, James Couch, Thomas Couch JR, William Couch and Edward Couch. Ellen maintains that her Brunswick County, VA John and James Couch were sons of Captain John Couch who was born in England and in Jamestown, VA before 1748. Since Ron Couch of Kentucky (John & Martin Couch); Dr. Richard Couch & Ellen (from Capt John of England and Jamestown, VA and John and James Couch of Buckingham Co, VA); Danny Couch of NC (William Couch) as well as myself (Thomas Couch Jr and his projected son John Couch Sr) all belong to the Couch Group 5 DNA project. Then we need to look everywhere in Virginia to find which is our common ancestor. Is it your John Couch"s ( and Mary Elizabeth Boon) father? Is it the Captain John Couch of Jamestown reported by Ellen or some other Virginia Couch who was in the colonies at least by 1720? Help me on this one. Robert H.
