    3. Sam, My heartiest congratulations on finding (with documented proof) the existance of Mary Boone as a wife of John Couch. You were the doubting Thomas for you knew of no evidence documenting the exitance of Mary Polly Boon. However, rather than being content to dissent you went the extra mile and did what you had long advocated. Search for the truth in honest and dilligent and even expensive research. Now, despite your earier, justified doubts you have found the proof and have consented that there was indeed a Mary Boone. This is the sign of a really great researcher and I commend you highly. Now, for the next step back. Who was the father of your John Couch of Virginia. Ellen and Dr Richard Couch also have a Captain John Couch that was supposedly born before 1748 in England and migrated to Jamestown, VA. At this point no one has yet documented the existance of this Captain John Couch with observable, original sources. What I believe is my Couch line appears in what is now Lunenburg County,(formerly Prince George and Brunswick Counties, Virginia) as early as 1720. Thomas Couch's residence in Lunenburg along Couch's Creek is well documented along with probable relatives Thomas Couch JR, James Couch, William Couch, another John and Edward. Land records, Hotten's list of 1730, and court records all offer documentation of the Couches in Lunenburg County, VA. I know your reservations about the DNA but Ron Couch who is from your John & Martin Couch line; Richard Couch from the Captain John Couch line, Danny Couch from the William Couch line and my line from the Thomas Couch line all belong to Couch Group 5 DNA. They all were at one time known to be in Virginia. Thus all those listed above, as well as others in the group, have a common ancestor who was probably in Virginia. Several of the Group 5 members took the 25 marker DNA test and all had near perfect matches. This indicates that those in this DNA subgroup have a common ancestor within seven generations. Thus that common ancestor of so many of us must have been in Virginia. Now we need to use your great research skills, research methodology, and persistance to find the truth. I feel we are so close. Together we can solve this great mystery. Congratulations on your great find and the way in which you have sought the truth. You did not seek to prove you were right but you sought the truth and you are a great example of how we all should do research. Enough bickering and on to the TRUTH! Robert H.
