    2. Sure sounds great but I'll be in TX that week. Hope for good turn out and lots of new discoveries! There's another Couch reunion I've heard about in Corbin KY but don't know the dates. Does anyone here have contact for a Roger Couch from Harlan? He was new to research back in April and I've not been able to reach him on email. He's a grandson of Dave Couch b. abt 1897, Perry or Harlan Co., s/o Tom Couch and Mary Ann Harris. If anyone else here researching this family, please let me know. Say a silent thank you from me to my ancestors who are buried there, would you? Tell them we're hot on the trail they thought they'd hidden from us so many years ago. Now why would they do that to all of us ??? Or did they ??? Joyce

He was in the Battle of 96 in 1781 that was the big war scene in Mel Gibson's movie, "The Patriot." Those are the only NC two I know of, in addition to the William Coutch/Coutch/Crouch in PA & VA who family tried three times in the said surnames before his heirs were rejected. It is said this William family kept the Crouch surname, told to me by a Crouch who thought she came from his line but had no records back enough to prove it. Her ancestors were in nearby KY, Clay (?) Co. I think she said but will probably never see her again. It was a chance meeting, as it was. This William was in Sneedville/Hancock Co. TN at his death about 1834 and the pension was applied for in 1844, I believe. Thanks Dan for the reply was your relation in the 2nd NC Cont/Line? Maybe a DAR check on the varient Coutch/Crouch wil produce something?? As Ive prior noted, Ive found grants/deeds/liens listed in legal description as Crouch and also Coutch.. But was signed by the person as XXX Couch. Interesting your realtion was in the USRA and also the Militia Do you have the unit number for the Orange Co NC regiment? Thanks so much!!

Can you give any reference to any Couch,s that were Patriots in the Revolution war that served in NC? We have several, that were Torys/Loyalists that were offered either serve or hang. We have checked most units for NC and have not found any Couch in the NC area. Id highly be interested in finding the units served in. Some of the Campbells and Combs were also pacifists. 3. RE: John Couch {Ky info} 1st Wife Mary info. Bill would you be so kind as to change the place of death for John Couch,s first wife Mary. From deceased Ashe Co 1781 To deceased in Wilkes Co. Info so provided will explain the change. Ashe was not a Co till 1799. http://www.martygrant.com/gen/refs/nccounty.htm If the date of death is near correct, its impossible for her to have died in Ashe Co. The records would be in Wilkes. Co which formed in 1777 from Surry. As it stands now all think the real place of death is in Ashe and therfore seek records there, of which there is none. The original source for this was : Info on death furnished by Gladys K Frazier of Perry Co Ky And Westland MI 31640 Fairchild % Carolyn Hatten, Westland MI 48185 Lives in Letcher Co {Whitesburg} in summer is Granddaughter of Rebecca Campbell and Polly Stacy JP Doward then published that. Later confirmationn is that Gladys reported it "as she heard it" At present this is a stumbling block for alot of new people, as well as oldsters. Would you be so kind to change on your website. Also later I will provide documentation and source info that John Couch of Kentucky that had land in Orange/Wilkes Co was the brother of Joseph Couch brn 1745. Both migrated from Montgomery Co Va into Nc and later John went to Ky Joseph went back to Va Thanks

    3. Lee, I think you might be onto something with Delaware Couches. I was looking at a handdrawn map of the Great Philadelphia Wagon Rd., just last night and saw where the Delaware Bay/River juts up into SE PA. A researcher from another family has made mention that a host of families who later ended up in VA/NC/KY were in New Castle Co DE, and the biggest portion of them are mentioned in PA Quaker records.
