But, with the careful documentation and sources you must have surely you can fathom a hypothesis about the common ancestor that Ron Couch and I have. I have documented evidence that Thomas Couch recieved land in Brunswick County, VA in 1720 (This Brunswick County area became Lunenburg Co, VA in 1746. There is a Couches creek just west of Lunenburg community and my sources say that is the area where Thomas Couched lived. There is evidence that Thomas Couch married an Elizabeth and had a son named Matthew in 1725. There are also land records that show a Thomas Couch giving/selling some of his land to Thomas Couch Jr. My projection that the Thomas Couch Jr that was born in 1720 was also the son of Thomas and Elizabeth. Other Brunswick County records show a William Couch and a James Couch there as well. Thus we have documented proof that the Couch family of Brunswick Co, VA had citizens there named Thomas Sr, Thomas Jr, Matthew, James and William. HOtten's list also names Thomas, William and James in VA in 1830. Orange County NC land records (I have an official map) shows that William and Thomas have land grants there near Hillsborough, NC and James Couch is nearby. Next we find Thomas Jr in Spartanburg SC along the banks of the Enoree river there. With him is a Matthew Couch, William Couch, James Couch, John Couch, Middleton Couch, Joseph Couch, Z. A. Couch, Benjamin Couch, Drury Couch. WE know that the son of Thomas Jr was a John Couch b. Orange County, NC in 1745. Now I have had to fill in the dots to make the kind of conservation hypothesis that this is my line. The DNA test shows that Danny Couch of NC is from the line of Thomas Couch Sr's brother William Couch. Ron Couch of KY, Dr Richard Couch of Oklahoma, Robert Murphy Couch of AR and Al, Bob Couch of TN, and others all know we have a common ancestor somewhere. I think that ancestor is the Thomas and Elizabeth Couch of Lunenburg, VA or the father of Thomas Couch Sr of Brunswick/Lunenburg Co, VA. What do you think? Perhaps Thomas Couch SR came down from Pennsylvinia or Conneticut. I just do not knonw and have just about exausted my search. Robert H. Couch Thomas Jr/James John.Joseph have been found in western Va also. Joyce has found them all in one area along with Daniel Boone... all prior 1778. "If" Thomas shares a common bond I believe it will be from PA or nor'easternern states. The evidence will be turned up later in western VA. Sam

    3. Bill, This is the area in which I have been searching for the family of my Susan Couch Cox. She was born around 1780, in upper S.C. About 1800 or so she married John Cox. They lived in the Marietta section of upper Greenville Co. S.C. Their children were; (boy's) William, John, Odam, Robert, and Ford. (girls) Precia, Amma, Nancy, Caroline, Elizabeth (Betsy) and Frances Margaret (Peggy). I have looked at all of the folks you listed, with no luck on connecting Susan to any of them. Several only appeared in one or another census, and then disappeared. If anyone has info on Susan's family I would love to hear it. 3. I have been going over some old files. And would like to see if anyone else is working on the Greenvile Couches. on the 1800 Census i have posted on the Couch page There is a Aaron listed, Does anyone have anything on him. Also as you see there is two Benjamins, My Benjamin died in Spartanburg Co. But the one in Spartanburg is not him on the 1800 Census. The one in Greenville is more correct with Children Just has a couple listed that are not accounted for. Only two of the younger one are accounted for. the two older one are Eli and Levi, the daughter is Margaret. Same census is a Moses and this is the Moses that is married to Elizabeth Lindsey. One of Moses Daughters was name Delilah, Now this is the same name as Benjamin Wife. also a James, Jediah and Isaac are that also. I don't have anything I can find on a Jediah, Does anyone have anything on him ? Bill Couch

Couch who was born 1832 in Hopkins Co, KY and married Russell Sizemore 3 Dec 1857 in Clay Co KY. This John Smith Couch is the brother to my great grandfather, Orrel G.     3. Im getting hammered by offlist email on this, so I post here to possible help. John Couch of Kentucky married Elizabeth Campbell in Orange Co indeed !! North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868 Bride: Elizabeth Campbell Groom: John Couch Bond Date: 02 Dec 1783 OC County: Orange Record: #:01 096 Bond: #:000096011 The bond will have the witnesses ect on it. or even relation or bondsman The sole info put out on the birth of John Couch of Kentucky was put out by Gladys Frazier listed as a source by another researcher. There is NO PROOF of his birth date. NOR any documents that place him in Surry/Wilkes Co prior 1782. i.e the John/Mary residence. There is evidence that John "might" have been in Orange co at that time. John very well might be the son of Thomas Couch and the brother of Joseph in NC Records show a John and Joseph in montgomery Co VA in almost same dates range. As someone else has has already "claimed" a John/Joseph the John of Kentucky is at a dead in in NC. The account of Gladys Frazier is disputed. As no evidence exists to back it up. A family bible that burnt up in 1960,s is NO proof. The key to finding more on John, lays with the Lewis line and the Campbell lines The key is finding out about Johns first alledged marriage. Not that he was reported to come from Germany. To may people are skipping sequencial order. John cant be toed to Europe TILL he can be proper placed in the Colonies. With the right line. Intermarriage along the line is rampant. And in many places. A son of xxx marrys the step daughter of his xxx wife. Its known John Couch of Kentucky spelled his name two ways. John Couch OR John Crouch Also note there are two lines of Couch in Kentucky although they intermingle on later line they do not appear to do so in early line. {At present} People are also getting Austin Couch mixed up highly Austin Couch b 1786 d 1834 married Daphane Eversol b 1820 Was a trailblazer into Ky. Sent as young man to look for property in Ky in the spring of 1806 form the New River, NC, for a group of 50 odd familyies. Married Daphane Eversol sister of Judge Eversol of Clay Co, Ky. Roll 3 pages 2289-2432 April JD Diairy. Friendof Charles Farris went with Austin, also listed in 1830 Perry Co census Known property for Austin listed in Deed Book A376 and A578 for Perry Co Also Book A page 573 Perry Co Ky 1832: Grantor Riley, James Grantee Couch, Austin There was also another Austin Couch in Kentucky area 1760 era He has not been linked to John Couch lineage {yet}
