Hi Kay, I thought by now everyone knew John & Elizabeth - LOL. It was John Couch of Ashe County NC and Perry County KY, with wives Mary Boone and Elizabeth James Campbell. Jo
Okay, been doing research on my Claxton's again. Here is a Bush connection, not necessarily my direct line of Claxton's, in Caldwell Co., Ky in 1829 a Emily M. Martin was born to Henry James Martin and Sally (Bush) Martin. Emily's brother was James Claxton Martin. who was born in Gibson Co., Tn. Any help would be appreciated. I do know that there was a Martha Martin that lived with first Ford and Sarah Mathis in Alcorn/Tippah Co., Ms then with Hiram and Temperence Mathis Claxton same place. Sincerely, Nancy "Joyce H. Joyce, The best information I have about Jeremiah's siblings comes from Ellen McKown's (emcht@oeadvantage.net) records. Her's and cousin Bev Blum's research says that Jeremiah's father was John (born 1748)of Buckingham County whose wife was Rebecca. Their children were: B. G.; Thomsa & William (1770), Fefrie (1775), Jeremiah (1776); Marton (abt 1780); David (abt 1782); Lewis (abt 1783); Nicholas (abt 1784); Marchant (abt 1785); and James (abt 1795). cousin Richard of Tulsa

Hi Bill, I live about 1 1/2 hours from Lincoln Co, TN. My Couch crew came from this area. Eli Couch, Levi Couch, George W. Couch, etc. This Eli Couch is son of old Benjamin Couch of Spartenburg, SC. My Eli Couch came to LCT about 1818/20. Later moved to DeKalb Co, AL where he died about 1860, don't have my records at hand. I have a few LCT books. Is there something I can help you with? Thank you Sam for the new List -- may we all learn our origins and finally prove who Mary Polly Boone really was. Joyce
Richard, Do you know if Jeremiah Couch had a sister, Nancy, b c1775, who md Drury Bush and moved to Clay County KY by 1819 (on a tax list that year)? I am trying to find who her parents were. Thanks Ellen for the update. You and Beverly have extended our ancestry one generation earlier. I didn't know that Captain John was the father of James and John. I'd always assumed that James and Captain John were brothers. cousin Richard of Tulsa
Joe can you look at 1860 Madison Co. Alabama census Should be house 345 and see if there is a Suel Couch and Linley Couch listed there and let me know what is there. Must have not been indexed. They are also suppost to be in house #1288 in 1850 Lincoln Co. Tennessee. If possible look and see if any other Couches are close by them. Bill, I just looked for an email for Bev and I don't have one, We are lazy and just use the phone to visit. I will look thru some mail later and try to find her. I do know that she doesn't read email very often and that is why we just talk. However, most of the stuff she had, I now have. She is into literary writings at the present or she was deep into writing some children's book not long ago. ellen
Does Beverly Cross Blum have a Email Address. I have worked with here before but it has been 10 or 15 years ago. I would like to get in contact with her again. Would she still have the same mail address she had that long ago. I think I still have it here some place. Bill Couch
Richard, John and James were brothers and their father was called Capt Couch. Bev Blum is the one who has worked a thousand years on this line. James had a son who was Called John Couch, Jr until his uncle died and then be became just John. Go figure but the Couch people had their own naming system. the John who is my ggrandfather is the John Couch who died in 1840 in KY. He was married twice: Sisters: Ann and Mary Anderson. I know I have mailed this before or at least I think I have. All of the children of my John Couch have been accounted for and have most of the their children as well. Go to the Anderson Family Web page and read their lineage and it will give insight to the Couch connection. Also if you read the will of John Couch (1840) his will also makes reference to Andeson, etc. A son by the first wife had some sort of problem or something as he was given more in the WILL then the other children. I am just to lazy to pursue that angle, perhaps someday. best wishes. ellen ----- Original Message ----- From: <RCouch1148@aol.com> To: <COUCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 06, 2003 9:49 AM Subject: Re: [COUCH] Elihugh K. Khandi, Please send me your mailing address so I can send you a CD with a lot of information (thanks to Vivian Evans) about your Elihue branch of the Couch family tree. Based upon information I received awhile back compliments of cousin Ellen McKown, the information on this CD about our Jeremiah's father is incorrect. Ellen says, and I have no reason to doubt her information, our Jeremiah's father was Captain John of Buckingham County. I think all of us consider Captain John to be the brother of James of Buckingham County. cousin Richard of Tulsa
