    2. Kay, William Couch is Drury 's son , William had Kenyon and Kenyon had William Scott, As for the odd name it's whatever William Scott Couch and Mary Ann Boddie Lee named their son. I think that I've may have found some Couch offspring's if they'll reply to my e-mail. I was told that there wasn't any living Couch relatives of this line. paula

    3. Dyanne, Greetings from Alabama. I have considerable information about your ancestors John Couch Sr and Mary Prather of Pendleton District, Pickens County. There are a number of other relatives who occasionally post on thi CouchGenWeb. You may want to go to the archieves and post John & Mary Prather Couch and see what they have. Kenneth Ramsey Couch is also a descendent of John and Mary Prather Couch and he has taken the COUCH DNA test. He belongs to group 5 which numbers some 14 individuals including myself. Thus, your Couch family and mine have a common ancestor. Your John Couch Sr was born in Orange County, SC and moved later to Pickens County, SC. A rather large number of Couches moved to northwest South Carolina and were in Spartanburg and Greenville Counties near Pickens County, SC. What would you like to know about your family? Do you have any idea who was the father of John Couch Sr? Please to know of you and your line. Please let me hear from you and tell me how I might be of help. Robert H. 2. Couch, Robert H.
    3. Bill, What conflicts are you talking about? What proof would you accept? Thomas's Will names Children. And these are all found in the 1790 Spartanburg County Census. Then the same names appear in Greenville County, SC next to each other on the banks of the north Fork of the Saluda River. Their original land records there are on microfilm. I have seen these. They also appear in the 1800 census of Greenville County, SC. If, as some suggest, Benjamin, James and Isaac are sons of old Thomas then they too appear in land deals and census records of Greenville County, SC. I do know that some of these folks (Benjamin and another John for instance) appear in both Spatanburg County, and Greenville Counties in the 1800 census. So, unless they sent postcards home telling of their move to Greeenvile and we get hold of some of these we will never have proof positive. So, this is the working hypothesis I shall try to prove. If you have any hard data to show this hypothesis is wrong I would be glad to accept it as proof. However, negative generalities such as "I don't think they are a part of the old Thomas family....."just too many conflicts to be a part of that line without some good proof" will not really be helpful in proving the hypothesis or disproving it. Look forward to seeing you evidence disproving this hypothesis. I simply responded to your inquiry about research into the Couches of Greenville County, SC. Robert H. 3. Have a nice trip. Please keep in touch. I think it is important to learn more of Captain John Couch of England and father of your James and John Couch of Buckingham co, VA. Given our Group 5 DNA matches we need to find a common ancestor and this Capt John Couch just may be a major clue. We know of Thomas and Elizabeath Couch in Brunswick Co, VA as early as 1720; James and William Couch were probably brothers of Thomas and I would suggest that maybe Captain John Couch may have been another brother of these Virginia gentlemen who were in Brunswick (Lunenburg) County VA in 1720--30s. 3. Bill, Did you get my data on the Greenville, SC Couches? I want to know what you think. Did several of Ole Thomas' sons and grandsons move to shores of north fork of Saluda river in Greenville County, SC during the period of 1795-1800? IT seems many left early in 1800 to GA, TENN, ALAbama etc. Bob Couch ---------- >From: Bill Couch <bcouch@CouchGenweb.com> >To: COUCH-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [COUCH] Greenville Couch >Date: Sun, Aug 31, 2003, 9:52 PM > >I have been going over some old files.
