I will show it on the chart and add you as a researcher. this way others can find you and work with you on This line. 1. [COUCH] Couch research
    2. Bill Couch
    3. Hello everyone, As you know last year about this time we started the DNA project. It seem to have died down now but I think if we could find someone from the other lines that have not been tested it would be of benefit to all of us. A couple of the lines did not turn out like we expected them to. It would not hurt if someone else from anothe part of these lines would also take the DNA test just to make sure that nothing went wrong. I think we have acomplished a lot's in the last year. we have at least 9 Different Group's of Couch's First we have the old Fairfield CT. group and it is a large group of Couches. So far we only have two from them to take the DNA test and one of them is not a Couch. Then we have Group 2 that could connect to them sooner or later but I think it will be back in England. This group is growing. and I think some of the other lines will connect to it. If we find someone to take the DNA test. On the Group 5 we have lots of Matches. and from about 13 different lines we have not found links for yet. I feel if we can find the records all of us will link back up by 1700 and Probably most to the Old Thomas and Elizabeth who was in Virginia by 1700. The Charts that I have posted are there mosley for other Researchers to find you and work with you on your lines. If we all work together we can at least account for most of the ones that have been listed on the Census records from 1850 to present. By having those accounted for we will have a number of lines that do not connect together. Then by the process of elimation we can work out most of those and the DNA test will help. Thanks Bill Couch

She is not a Couch researcher but the photo was among her grandmother's things and she'd like to find a home for it. If any of you think she's yours, just let me know and I'll forward to you. 2. Land: Re your post on John and Elizabeth Wilson and daughter Jemima who married Joseph Couch. Can you give me any more information about Joseph and Jemima i.e. wedding date, where, etc. Do you have Joseph's birthdate and place? I am researching a Joseph who we believe is the Joseph listed in the census of 1800 and 1810 in Ashe County, N.C. It is possible the is the father of Jennetto (Jane) Couch and Timothy Couch. Maybe also Jonathan. Are any of these names familiar to you? If so, will be glad to share what information I have. Nolene

    3. Joseph of Ashe County NC was 45+ on the 1800 census. J and J Couch on the 1810 Ashe County census were younger men -- possibly sons of John of Perry County Ky and Joseph, who was more than likely a brother of John's. No proof as yet they belonged to either of them. Joyce

    2. Couch, Robert H.
    3. Joyce, I have indeed explored the CT Couches who came abut 1740 to the shores of CT. On my website I may have included the the brief Histoy of the CT Couch family by Vintron Myron Couch who wrote the family histor sometime before he matriculated to Cornell about 1820 or so. Those close to this family say that some Couches may have moved South to VA and NC. But, I have not seen a clue to connect us to them. However, Windwalker's assertion that his folks may have come from CT is a possibility. William Couch, son of Drury Couch (Of The Ole Thomas Couch line of VA, NC, SC) is quoted in a book about one of his descendents, the noted Harvey Couch, that his Couch family was in New England as early as 1840s and in Virginia before 1700. So, we do have that possibility. Thanks for the inquiry. Bob Couch ---------- >From: JoyceHouseReeve@webtv.net (Joyce H. 3. Since we are all confused on Couch relationships (at least I am), I want to add a note that might help us. James Couch ( abt 1739/abt 1821) had two sons that I want to reference. 1. John Couch born 1773 VA, died 1840 KY. 2. Daniel Couch born 1885 VA, died 1809 VA John had a daughter, Mary Ann Couch born 1803. Daniel had a son, James Daniel Couch born 1803. Mary Ann Couch married James Daniel Couch 28 Jul 1835. Also there is one instance where a wife of a Couch died and she then married the brother of her husband. There may be more examples but I don't recall them. Also long ago I made a mental note that the Couch had tunnel vision when it came to naming children. Just use the same names over and over and surely someone would answer. This may be a little harsh but it is also harsh trying to separate the names. If you read the WILLs of some of these men, you will agree. ellen

    3. Hi Bob, I've been thinking (watch out !!) -- if the 25 marker DNA means a common ancestor 7 generations ago, we may need to look across the ocean. John of Perry was my 4th gr grandfather. I came along late in Dad's life (age 47), so I guess I could say I'm closer to 5th than 4th. We don't know for sure when John's father, or grandfather, came to America, much less know who he was. The common ancestor might not have come to America at all. One scenario might be our common ancestor had several sons who immigrated -- maybe even at different times and to different locations in America. Sam feels John's might have been in Connecticut before meandering down into PA and later Western VA (now WV area). It was not unusual for those old timers to move about a lot. What about the CT Couches? Do any from there match at all, or is it only Virginians? Just some thoughts which might not help at all. We're still searching. Joyce
