    1. Re: [COUCH] Hawkins Co TN Family Elihugh Couch
    2. Khandi, My great grandfather John Preston Couch was a brother to your Elihue (Elihugh) Couch of Rogersville, Tennessee. Some of his descendents still live in the Rogersville area. They have a greenhouse named the Couch Greenhouse. You could locate them via the phone book by that name. Elihue and my John Preston were the sons of Henry Couch of Scott County, Virginia. Henry was the son of Jeremiah of Russell County, Virginia. Jeremiah was the son of John of Buckingham County, Virginia. You can find some of this genealogy on the Couch website. Richard Couch of Tulsa, Oklahoma

    2. Bill Couch
    3. I just updated my DNA to a 37 marker test, it cost $59.00 to update form 25 to 37. Is anyone in group 5 willing to waste another $59.00 Need someone to compair against.<grin> What is your opinion on this, this is suppost to be a 50/50 chance that you will match in 4 generation. I don't think the 25/25 match was that had a 50/50 chance in 7 generation. I think we now have 3 more 25 marker test comeing that should match in Group 5 The more we get taking the dna test the more that will start to come in that will have matching mutation. as most know we only took one from each line that we did now know much about. Less hear some comments on this either for or against. I could be wrong and this may not be the way to go. But at least we know we have lots of Couches in the same sack now. Now we got to shake that sack up and see what we can got out of it. Bill Couch

    3. Hi Dave, As far as I know, Huldah is not of our tree, but under Oliver. Have also heard from Gwen Stuart and awaiting reply from her. 3. I have a Benjamin Blankenship b. 1785 in VA and died April 1853 in Bedford, TN. He married a Sarah Webb. I have nothing further on him, but that is one Blankenship family that was in the general area you are talking about - and he is from VA. The early Tennessee migrations are heavily from VA. It is possible your Couch is from the CT Couches, but I'd lean toward checking out Virginia first. 3. TO THOSE OF US IN THE GROUP 5 COUCH DNA TESTING. JIMMY CARTER'S NEW NOVEL, THE HORNET'S NEST, HAS AS ONE OF ITS SETTINGS, ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA AND ITS COUNTY SEAT HILLSBOROUGH. HE DESCRIBES THE TOWN, THE PEOPLE AND CONDITIONS THERE JUST BEFORE THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. ALTHOUGH FICTION, HE USES REAL HISTORICAL FACTS SO PERHAPS HE IS TALKING ABOUT THE ERA IN WHICH OUR ORANGE COUNTY, NC COUCH ANCESTORS LIVED (THOMAS SR,THOMAS JR, WILLIAM, JAMES AND POSSIBLY EDWARD). THEY WERE IN ORANGE COUNTY, NC BY 1750 AND SOME COUCHES STAYED THERE THROUGHOUT THE REVOLUTIONAY WAR. THOSE IN GROUP 5 WHO MAY HAVE DESCENDED FROM THOMAS AND ELIZABETH COUCH OF VA AND OLE THOMAS AND MARY COUCH WHO WERE LATER IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY MIGHT JUST FIND THESE DESCRIPTIONS OF ORANGE COUNTY, NC INTERESTING. 1. [COUCH] Jonathan Couch of Knox Co., TN
    2. Does anyone have any information on JONATHAN COUCH who was living in Knox County, TN during the early 1800. Is he related possibly to the Jonathan Couch of Connecticut? The name Huldah Couch caught my attention. Rowland Blankenship and Jennetta "Jane" Couch who married in Knox County, TN, in 1815 had a daughter Phoebe Hulda Blankenship. Could "HULDA" be a Couch family name? Also, living in Knox County during the early 1800s were Joseph and David Couch. Any information or thoughts on these men would be appreciated. Pattie

    2. Bill Since you changed the format of the DNA page from the Groups & into individuals, its difficult to get a understanding. As you said, "Can't satisfy everyone." Sorry, just my thought. Vic
