Add this to Arkansas 1830 census: John Couch 236 Pulaski 211001/101001 Jacob Couch 245 Pulaski 000001/0001 Faulkner had a Samuel Couch on the land Records dated 1859. Jacob has a brother Samuel. Pulaski has land records on Jacob B and Louis. (I forgot to write down the dates) Dina
Last night I posted the message on Isaac and Hardin Couch in Orange Co. 1820 Census Now they was still there in 1830 along with Joshua Horne and Joseph White on the same page. on this page was the old John Daniel. Guess the young one had gone to Tennessee. So far I have not found Jacob B. Couch or the Samuel who was suppost to be a son listed on the will. Now I have his death date as 1829 but the 1830 census lista thomas Couch just under Hardin Couch in this house was one male 40/50 and one male 90/100 another name on that page was a Couch but i could not make it out. it is on page 262 if anyone else can make it out. last 4 letter look like ?? tham Couch he was also 40/50 yrs old. Here is another question, Jacob b who was a brother to Hardin went to Little Rock Arkansas. We have John Couch and Charity Powell who was married in murray Co. Tenn also made it to Arkansas and they had a son name Hardin who was in Conway Co. 1860 Census I was thinking I saw a John on either the 1820 census or the 1830 Census with Thomas Couch family. Guess I got to go back and look some more. Can anyone help out here. At this time I beleive this Isaac is the one that Marrid Sufannah Burch. on the 1820 census there was a Zachariah Burch on the same page as Isaac. and as far as I can tell this Isaac never went to SC. He also had 4 son's and 4 daughters 1820 Census Does anyone have a name for any of them. Bill Couch
Hello Bill and Kim There are two different Samuel Couchs. I at one time thought they were the same but my Samuel came to Gwinnett Co Ga. around 1830 and was there until about 1848 when he moved to Clarke Co. I thing the other Samuel from Laurens Co was in SC during this time. I do feel they are closely kin because my Samuel's oldest son was born in Laurens Co. SC around 1826. So it seems that both Samuels were in Laurens Co at the same time. Possibly my Sameul's father, possible John, and the other Sameul's father might have been brothers. I am most interested in your Samuel Couch. Larry Parr of Georgia and I have the exact 25 marker DNA match and he too descends from Samuel Couch. He tells the story that he descends from a John Couch who was a British soldier who came into South Carolina before the Rev. War. We have another several Couches with perfect 25 marker DNA matches and thee including Webmaster of the CouchGenWeb Bill Couch of Arkansas who are just one marker. Do you think your Samuel Couch could be the same Samuel as that of Larry Parr? Let me hear more about your line. We need to find a connection between all these folks. Hi all, Just wanted to pass this along ... http://home.columbus.rr.com/meshackcouch This is a homepage dedicated to Meshack Couch Sr. and his descendants. He is my "brick wall". Have been getting new light because of Bill Couch's efforts with the Couch DNA Project (http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch/DNAtest.htm#group3) Thanks to Bill for coordinating this effort! There is a lot of other unrelated Couch links listed as I have tried to save good resource links to share with others in there genealogical quest. Feel free to check it out ... Suggestions and comments are appreciated. Have a great day! Brad Couch
On the Isaac Couch that married Sufsannah Burch 9 Jan 1898 in Orange Co. NC. This is not the Isaac that went to Laurnes Co. SC. That Isaac wife was a Susannah any way Isaac is on the 1820 &1830 Census of Orange Co. with his brother Hardin Couch and other members of that family And I have heard that Isaac died in Orange Co. need to get more of that info. now on the 1820 census Isaac had 4 boys and 4 girls, , Do anyone know who these children are. I just posted a new chart on a Catherine Couch who married John Daniel. on the 1820 Census page 209 was Joshua Horne, Isaac Couch, John Carlton, Hardin Couch, John Horne and John Daniel This John Daniel is the old John Daniel who was born abt 1750 and married Susannah Couch who we beleive is a sister to Edward Couch, Susannah Couch dau Nancy Ann Daniel married Daniel Carlton and their Son was John Carleton, and I beleive Daniel was on theis page also. on page 215 we have a Christopher Daniel, John Rhodes, William Trice, Henry Trice and John Daniel who married Caherine Couch they had 2 son and 2 daughters on this census Now from the page 209 we had Susannah Couch and John Daniel also had a daughter name Sarah/Ede Daniel who married Henry trice and they are listed Just above the Young John Daniel on this page. John Daniel who married Caherine Couch was Catie on her marriage record and I don't have who his parents are but is the correct age to be a John Jr. for John and Susannah. I also can't figure out who Catherine Couch parents are. But has got to come from one of these Couch families. that are left in Orange Co. in 1814. Please let me know if you can add anything to this. Most of the Couch family was still there in 1830 but so far I have not found the Young John Daniel. I think the old one is on the same page with the Couch's Bill Couch
by the way there was alos a Zachariah Burch on the same page as Isaac on the 1820 Census about all I could get out of it was he was over 45 Could be Sufsanna Burch father Bill Couch

For you that are keeping up with the Couch DNA there is a mail list for Genealogy-Dna at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Miscellaneous/GENEALOGY-DNA.html you should look at this ever now and then and see what is new going on in this field. Most of it is over my head but I still like to read about it. And Hopeful that other members of Our COUCH group will also read about it and get more involved with our Dna project. They are now saying the 12 y is of little use anymore but if this is all you can afford it will group you with one of our group of Couch's Bill Couch
Jerry Bohnett anounced today he as sent the photo album of the Couch family that was in Michigan From Canada to the University Of Michigan Library. info on this can be foun on the family chart at. http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch2/johncan.htm Bill Couch
I have one of these from back in the 60's that my mother ordered from who knows where :-) I don't put much stock in these things but for conversation pieces. Not long ago someone asked about the crest and I scanned copy to him. The image is not very clear so he reworked it in his graphics program and shared copy with me. One image is .jpeg but I could never open the other one. I'll forward them to you along with my original scan. Maybe you have something that will open the other image? If anyone else wants a copy, just holler. Linda, I shall keep Leigh (Lee) in mind as I continue my research. The knowledge that Leigh went to Wake County, NC is a find so I shall pay closer attention to the Wake County, Couches. It would really be a great help if a distanct cousin would agree to take the DNA test. The cost for a 12 marker test is $90 and another $90 for the 25 marker DN test which is more exacting. Please keep me informed as you learn more about Lee Couch in Wake County. I shall try to look up what I have on them. I seem to remember having a lot on them at one time. Robert H. Robert, The DNA is a possibility if there was a male Couch to do the test. Have to see if any of the distant cousins are interested in the results. Feel certain that he is related to one of the three Couchs in early Orange, but bridging the one or possibly, two generations, in between is the problem now. With Lee/Leigh for a first name I should be able to find something, you would think. Can only find him in 1830 through 1850 census where I can be sure. 1860, the only, Leigh Couch has the age all wrong and is living alone, so that is not a sure bet. If anyone should stumble across the name in NC, I would like to know. Even if it might be incorrect later, with enough eyes looking something should pop up. Linda, Just a thought... You might try looking under a variation of the name -- such as Leander, Lehigh, Leroy -- Lee/Leigh might have been a nickname. My daus name is Lisa, but in the family she is known as Lee. Joyce
Linda, We have good proof of Thomas Jr, William, and James Couch in Orange County, NC from about 1740 through the 1760s when some of the Couches moved to Spartanburg County, SC and a John Couch of Orange County went to Pendleton district which is also in the northwest corner of South Carolina. Thus, your Lee Couch b about 1803 most likely descended from this family. Earlier the family was in Brunswick County (Now Lunenburg) Virginia from about 1720 until about 1739. Now, we are looking for the parents of Thomas Couch Sr and his wife Elizabeth. They lived on Couch's Creek just outside the county seat of Lunenburg (west of town). If you like you may be interested in getting a Male Couch in your family to take the DNA test. We have some 14 Couches in this line who have matching DNA. Most of them can trace their family to this Thomas Couch Sr and Elizabeth of Brunswick County, VA. If you are interested in this check it out on the <CouchGenWeb.com>. Please let me hear from you. I do know of other Wake County Couches but I am not sure they are related to me. With a DNA test from your Couch line we could discover if the Wake County, NC Couches were related to our Brunswick County, VA line. Thanks Robert H. Hello List, I am new to this list and could use a little help. Trying to research a Leigh/Lee Couch in North Carolina. Lee married Salley Marshall, 1 July 1824 in Wake Co., NC. In the 1850 census there was a William, 15; Louisa, 9; Jonathan, 7; in his household. Lee is listed as 47 years of age and having been born in Orange Co., NC. I know that Louisa Couch married Alvis Daniel and believe, that William Couch married Sarah Fowler, 2 July 1857. Is there any one else researching this family? Can not find a will or property, or have I missed something? Linda Thompson Cocoa, Fl [email protected]
The MTDNA test would work if you could get enough interested, But It would be lots harder to figure out and get people involved. We can't even get the men to do it in some of the lines and it is lots easier to sort out than the MTDNA test.Contact the Administrator of the Mills DNA project, This is a Female and She has took the MTDNA test, Ask her if anything has came out of that yet. I ask her to keep updated on it at one time. We have one Male that has taken the MTDNA+ Test but it is not back from the Lab yet. I am not sure what all that will include. But I am pretty sure that if just one take the test it will not be of much benefit. I just raised my test to the 37 marker and I am the only one that has done that. It will not do any good unless others follow from group 5. But As other family Groups get it going and if it catches on then I am ready. I think that is great that you are doing the DNA tests....but where so the rest of us fit in?......There are no males in my family to take the DNA test..... Sarah Rierson [email protected]
At this time we have 5 test at the lab. 16207 is a 25 marker test 17052 is a 25 marker test 17613 is a 25 marker test + MTDNA Test 5370 is my test extended to a 37 marker test. 5417 is Robert H. Couch Extended to a 25 marker test. We still have lots of dead end Couch lines listed on the CouchGenWeb.com page that have not took the DNA test to see which Group you fit into. Also on some of the lines that have took the DNA test and Did not match up with a Group of more than two. those lines sould try to find someone else to take the Test Just to make sure there was not a adoption or something else that caused the mismatch. I still feel this DNA has really helped all of us to get a beter picture of what is going on in the Couch Research and be able to tell which part of the Country Our Ancestors came from. Our Couch list has been Quite for too long. Bill Couch
