PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE AS THE SUBJECT IS REALLY OFF TOPIC. DO NOT START A THREAD HERE. I KNOW THAT MANY ARE MISINFORMED ABOUT THE ANNOUNCEMENT AND ARE CONCERNED THAT THEIR INFORMATION IS BEING SOLD. PLEASE READ THE ANNOUNCEMENT BELOW. ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS SHOULD BE REFERRED TO EITHER ANCESTRY.COM CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS - http://ancestry.custhelp.com or ROOTSWEB'S HELPDESK - http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com At the end of April, Ancestry.com released a preview of a new service called the OneWorldTreeSM service. This preview is just the first step toward a powerful new tool for your genealogical research. The preview status of the release has prompted questions and speculation. We hope the following information will help clear up some of the confusion regarding the OneWorldTree service. OneWorldTree does two things. First, it searches family history records. It does not modify or replace the original records. Second, it compiles the information in an effort to group the ones that go with a given person (a process we call ³stitching²), and provides references to the original sources. The first collection of records stitched into OneWorldTree was the Ancestry World Tree. Ancestry.com will continue to add records to the OneWorldTree system in an effort to provide more valuable data for our users, including trees, census records, and vital records. RootsWeb¹s World Connect Project is among the databases that will be searched and stitched as part of the OneWorldTree service. Family Trees submitted through Ancestry World Tree and RootsWeb World Connect are free and will remain free. Any options chosen by submitters with respect to GEDCOM download and source display will still work the same way. OneWorldTree doesn¹t contain those trees, it contains links that help people find them. We hope that the genealogy community will see the value of searching and stitching in the greater context of sharing family history information, and that they will add and update their trees. In order to be included in OneWorldTree, family trees must meet certain criteria. If you want to be sure that your tree will be included in the new OneWorldTree service, or if for any reason you do not want your tree to be part of OneWorldTree, please visit http://trees.ancestry.com/owt/checklist.aspx for more information.
Danny, this is no intrusion at all! We are sorry for the loss of your mother, and will keep you in our prayers. Everette & Inez Couch Bowie
Danny, I am so very sorry to hear of your mothers death. I know what it is like to lose a mother. You have my deepest sympathy. Best, Jo
I apologize if this is against list policy, but my mother, Loda Gail CHAMPION Potts, passed away last month (on March 29, 2004). I'm her youngest son, Danny, and while I doubt many of you knew her, I wanted to take a moment and tell you that receiving e-mails from these genealogy lists brought her a great deal of happiness. It's taken me about a month to get around to clearing out her e-mail inbox, which is why news didn't come sooner. I'll be de-subbing this e-mail address (her's) from the list. I will be taking over her family research work, and try to do at least *half* the job she did. This e-mail address should still remain active for some time, and my sister and I will be periodically checking it. Again, I'm sorry for the intrusion... I just wanted to be certain that the word was out, just in case she's ever posted here. Thanks, Danny Potts

Hi - Just an update on Lillie B. Couch. Using the "freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com" site, I managed to find a picture of the Couch family tombstone: Couch, Lillie B. b. 1898 -- , Claude W., 1901-1956 So this gave me Lillie's husband's name (but really can't identify them in the 1920 or 1930 Census Online Sites or Claude in the SSDI.) So I'll need to check the Ft. Worth, TX records further to see what I can find. I do have a request for a Lookup of Lillie's obituary in Ft. Worth (died 10 May 1994) with someone on www.usgenweb.com in Tarrant Co. Yes, I did have the Mack Mitchell census record. Hi Everyone, I'm just curious how many people on this list are reasearching the Eastern Ky Couches? Which counties are you researching primarily? Myself, I'm primarily researching the Couches in Leslie County. I have many death certificates and census records, as well as some Civil War documents and marriage records of Couches in Leslie County. I misplaced a roll of film from my last trip there, but I have some pictures of graveyards and graves too. As soon as I find this other roll of film, I'll have some more. I've recently been trying to find a library close to me with land records and wills. I've never looked for those before, so any guidance is appreciated.
I just sent a new update to the DNA chart. I was thinking I had already sent this up but I was trying to show it to Dina today and it was not there. I know i sent it to some place <grin> Anyway I have split up group 2 and moved Old simeon down in the second half of it. All of these seem to have a strong connection and the old someon is one of the oldest couch line know here in the us. And if Old simeon had some cousins come over later we need to find the immigrant of them. Even the Meshack line don't seem too far off from these families. If anyone has a better knoledge of DNA than I do please let us know your thought on this. The Old John who was in Alabama the dna from his line did not come back anything like we thought it would. and he is our lowest set of numbers and I have placed him in Group 1 for now. We need to find another line of his descendants to take a dna test if nothing more than the 12 y test just to double check FTDNA and make sure there was not a Unknown adoption back there some place. I have been through Betty's Records and they look good and she has done lots of good documenting. Also Jerry and othes have work hard and have came close to the same conclusion on this line. And If anyone is a couch from this old john and even if you can't afford to thake the test I bet there will be some one who will sponser it. Bill Couch
