    3. If he is the one that married Mary Luellen Polk , I don't have anything more on him. Can you update me and let me know your Connection. I will Show your connection on the chart and add you as a researcher. Where was he at on some of those census. I would like to chase him down for myself. 3. If there is any new researchers on the list please let us know who you are and what lines you are working on. And we had a good month last month. Now if we can just all work together for 2005 and see if we can find a father to two or three of our old Couchs. I think we could break through our brick wall. I have been working on the Couch pages at Http://www.couchgenweb.com it may be confusing for a while but we now have room to work with each group. I have a page set up of family charts and no one on those charts have tood the DNA test http://www.couchgenweb.com/moredna.htm Lots of Couch's here we do now know how they fit into the Picture of our Couch Research. My Daughter and I have just completed about 12 states of going through ever census from 1850-1920 and trying to follow some of these families. We now have lots more that I can create charts on if this group will help try to find researchers for them and see if we can figure out how they connect back to some of the older ones. We have been working with some of you off list and I am sure we all got some good out of it. Bill Couch

There aren't many records on line that I can find about Pasquotank County. They are listed in Murtie June Clarks book, "Colonial Soldiers of the South". Thanks. Jo

    2. Eddie Cox
    3. To All, I appreciate your response to my question. One of my distant cousins had at one time a copy of the family pages from a bible supposedly belonging to his grandfather William Cox, which listed Susan Couch as wife of John Cox. This was the beginning of my research on Susan Couch Cox, I have sense been told by members of other branches of the family that Susan Couch was married to John Cox. I have also been looking at the possible connection between Susan and Edward Couch, son of Benjamin Couch. I have Susan born between 1780 and 1790, in S.C.. In several posted histories of Benjamin Couch, there is reference to a daughter born in that time frame, as well as Edward. I haven't had access to the 1850 census, but on the 1860 census Edward Couch is living next to Susan Cox, ( her husband John died in 1853). Several daughters of both families carry the same female names, i.e. Susan, Nancy, and Eliza/Elizabeth. I know that DNA tests are suppose to run through the male line, and it is unlikely that I can trace my line of Couches this way, but by asking the question, I have gotten more responses than I've had sense I started on the list. I think that has got to be good for everybody. Thanks, Eddie

    1. Matching funds project
    2. Bill Couch
    3. on the matching fund project we had back in Nov. We colected enought to get $150.00 of matching funds from FTDNA They applied $25.00 toward 6 different DNA Kits. Those with those kit number listed at http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch/dnamatch.htm Will only need to send in $76.00 for the 12y test If FTDNA does this again we need to take advanage of it. We have lots of family charts that have not had a DNA test done on them. I have started a new page for the ones we need to get a DNA test done on. and it can be found at. http://www.couchgenweb.com/moredna.htm Just think of what The dna Charts could show if all these had Just a 12y test done on them. We need everyone to look them over and if you do connect to one of these charts and not listed as a researcher. Please let me know your connection and I will show it on the chart and Add you as a researcher. And work with you in trying to find someone to take the DNA test.

    1. report from FTDNA
    2. Bill Couch
    3. To Couch group manager, I hope ya'll are having a Happy Holidays season. Here at Family Tree DNA we are adding a few new tools for our customers, and we would like to let you know about them. - FTDNATiP is now open to all members of Surname Projects: after the extremely positive response from our Group Administrators, we have decided to offer this resource to all our Surname Project members so that any potentially relevant matches can be analyzed with FTDNATiP. This tool can be found at the "Y-DNA Matches" section and we encourage our customers to read the "Understanding FDNATiP" page to learn why some matches have the FTDNATiP tool for comparison, while others don't. - E-mailing the FTDNATiP Report: because the Report is located on your members' Y-DNA Matches page, it is restricted to the most relevant matches from within your group. This feature will allow you to make any comparison between members and e-mail the Report page to the individuals being compared. The page that is e-mailed is in PDF format for easy printing. - mtDNA table added to the public web page: with the increasing number of mtDNA tests performed within projects, many GA's have asked us to include the mtDNA table of results in the public project page. This is available now and you can choose to publish by checking the corresponding box at the public website setup. We would like to wish you a very Happy 2005 and a year full of genealogical accomplishments. Family Tree DNA hereby renews its commitment to be at the forefront of Genetic Genealogy, and you can rest assured that we will make 2005 reflect this commitment more than ever. On a final note, a quick reminder to those of you who still have FTDNA matching funds ($$) in your General Fund: the use of those matching gifts will expire on 12/31/04, and after that day we will remove them from the log, leaving only the actual donations. If you need assistance on how to make the most out of it, you are welcome to contact us. Happy New Year! E-mail me any time! 2. Becky Griswold
    3. Eddie, You are a close match to my grand uncle. And I have just discovered that my ancestor was not David Couch, but Jonathan Couch, son of John Couch, Sr. of Lower Alloways Creek, Salem Co., NJ. My line closely matched the DNA of Brad Couch who is a descendent of Meshach Couch. My line went North and West into Ohio from New Jersey. But Meshach Couch went South from Maryland and Delaware into Guilford Co., North Carolina. It is possible that your Susan Couch descends from Meshach Couch's line. 1. Couch DNA question to Bob
    2. Eddie Cox
    3. Bob, I know this is a long shot, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. I was looking at the DNA project list and noticed in group 3, kit # 8708, David Couch, matched up with my test, 11/12 on the 12 marker test. We get further apart in the 25 marker range at 17/25. However I was wondering if this person had any knowledge of his Couch's being in the S.C. up country around 1790-1800. My DNA test is for my Cox line, but my 3rd great grandmother was Susan Couch, whom I haven't been able to find a connection for to any other Couch's in the area so far. So I'm trying a wild guess here, and hoping for the best. Thanks, Eddie
