We have let the Couch list get slow for a while now. I understand we have some new Researchers on the list. So if you are new let us know you are out there and who you are researching. Someone may be able to help. On the Family Chart I have noticed some have changed address and have not updated. If you have changed address please let me know who you are and what chart you are listed on. So I can get the update made. For the ones that are new. we have Couch Family Charts at Http://www.couchgenweb.com Bill Couch
I sent a message to the list this afternoon but I have not seen it come through yet and I also went to the archives and it is not there. I am really checking to see if it is working. We had another DNA come back last night and I posted it in Group 3. I stated more in the last message so I will wait and see if it shows up. Bill.
We had the results from #28155 From Ron Couch Test. He is from John And Rachel. Who was in Campbell Co. Georgia We have had him in with James Couch Group But had a conflict there because two Johns had been placed in as the Son of James. Well this Test took the John that was married to Rachel out of this line. Unless someone can prove there is some bad Genealogy back to them. I now have John and Rachel in Group 3 and he is one step off from Mesheck 12 y test. If anyone know of any of Meshack Descendants who was in South Carolina about 1809 or 10 please let us know and see if we can find a connection for this John We have found John on the 1850 Census and he is listed as John Coutch. 3 of the 4 females married in Campbell Co. was his daughters. So far we can't place the Mary that married Solomon Tomberlin. But Sarah Ann, Lucinda, and Nancy was listed as his daughters on the 1850 Census. Bill Couch

Neil, Are you descended from this Couch line? I just found out yesterday that there is a possibility that David Couch is from the Connecticut Couches. One of his daughters lived until 1880 and on that census it lists where your parents were born. So I need to check into this a little. Becky __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The message board gateway is now activated. However there have been no postings on the board since December 30, so none have yet come through to the list. Joe Harrington
I have just noticed when someone matches with group5 only 13 are getting notified about the match and should be about 20 or more. If you have not signed the release from that came with your kit. You will not be notified about a match. We now have at least 23 in Group 5 who are Couches and then a few more that are not Couch's that we may find a Connection for one of these days. Bill Couch
The Matching funds project is listed at http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch/dnamatch.htm If your number is listed on this page and you did not get your $25.00 Credit toward your test please let me know and we will see what went wrong. I know some of you already had your bill when this took place but you should have got a message telling you to just to kake 25 dollars off of it. The 12y test should have only cost 76 dollars to the ones that are listed on this page who took part in the matching fund drive. Bill Couch
As some of you know FTDNA had a matching fund deal back in November. you can find out the result of that at http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch/dnamatch.htm now we have some money left in General fund I would like to make a offer to the one of you that have took the 25 marker test. it cost $59.00 to extend it to a 37 marker test. I will put $10.00 toward anyone who wishes to extend their test to the 37 markert up to 5 If interested in it please contact me off line and I can tell you how we can do it. There is now 3 of us who have took the 37 marker test. in Group 5 Which I am in. but the 10 dollars toward a test will be for all. If we get any results back that seem to help then I am sure we can find other resources. Bill Couch
Dina, I am a Bowie researcher, and also work on my wife's family, which is Lee Couch and Salley Marshall of Orange County, NC. For the Bowie researchers, I have setup a group in AOL as a Cousins List. When I get mail of interest, I send it on to the list. I have 105 names in my list, and very often mail is not of interest to everyone, but someone, somewhere will benefit, or have the information a person is seeking. If someone would take the responsibility of setting up a group and maintaining it, one click of a mouse could contact the entire list. I used blind copies to prevent misuse by someone with other motives, and to protect privacy. That means the group would have to be set up in blind carbon copy mode from the beginning. Another cousin in Maine (I am in Olive Branch, MS) has another list and we reciprocate; he forwards my mail and I forward his. We are very careful to use the list only for research related topics. I hope this helps. Everette Bowie PS: My wife's grandfather was John T. Couch, who married Adeline Miller of Tunica, Mississippi. They are both buried in Goodrum Cemetery in Eudora, Mississippi, DeSoto County. John T. Couch was born in 1841 in Orange County, NC. He is on the 1850 census as 9 years old, with his parents and two siblings. EB
Dina, Yes there is a way. The administrator of this list (Joe Harrington?) needs to contact the administrator of the Couch message board. Then the administrator of the Couch message board sets it up. I have done this for another surname that I am administrator of the mailing list for. Joe if you want to do this and need help, just let me know. Is there a way for the postings on the Couch message board to be forwarded to this list? Dina Couch Jeffers
We got a few new ones to take the DNA with the grant that FTDNA put up. and one of them is already back. it is beleived to be on the Group 5 But it is only a 12y dna and it does have a mutation where it should not have. if it was not for our sequence of number that are rare then it would not be counted in group 5. It would be interesting to see if it could follow on out with the 25. I have been talking to some of the other surname admin and they will not even try to group a 12 y test any more and are after the 37 marker test. They claim it is the best for puting families together. If anyone is really up on this DNA thing jump in here and help me out. I can see how it can be good for us but I can't explain it. Bill Couch
As most of you know I have been working on the pages at Http://www.couchgenweb.com now This page http://www.couchgenweb.com/moredna.htm This is the Charts that we do not have DNA on. Everyone look this chart over and help to find researchers who might be interested in taking the DNA Even the 12y DNA would help place these in Groups. They may be part of your family and do not know it. The larger the group the more people you got working to find your oldest Ancestor. Less all get back together and work out some of our road Blocks.
