    1. Re: [CoTyIre] Ordering Document from PRONI
    2. Hi Margaret, Thanks for this - as always the good folks at the LDS make searching easy. I searched for George Joyce and found him and then searched for George Joice, a common variant, and he was still there. Do that at the PRONI Wills database and you won't find him because it is so spelling sensitive But do remember one thing. PRONI does have quite a few of the actual wills photographed now and online at their website. Including my George Joyce. There was no mention of that at the Fs website. You could miss a lot if you do not use the two together. Fairly good quality images from the printed books. https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1921305 and it is searchable by beneficiary/legatee name as well as by legator. Does that mean there is no image online -OR- no image at all? Also, how would I go about ordering a copy of this will? 3. Agreed - I always check multiple databases when on the trail of an elusive ancestor. Most newspaper and other databases are extremely spelling sensitive, so wildcard searches are essential, when that option is available. Margaret snip But do remember one thing. PRONI does have quite a few of the actual wills photographed now and online at their website. Including my George Joyce. There was no mention of that at the Fs website. 3. Please note that in the wills I just checked the beneficiary's names are actually the executors' names. These are wills for which I have the actual complete will image (from PRONI). Judith

    3. HI, Am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that these are two different databases. That from PRONI is a Calendar of entries, and also has some full images. Being from PRONI it is mainly concerned with Northern Ireland. And the FamilySearch offering is from the National Archives of Ireland; it mainly covers the Republic, and is a Calendar of entries only.
