Apologies to all those non UK researchers who have found that it is not possible to sign the on-line petition unless you have a UK postcode. I contacted the website responsible for the on-line petition and below is a copy of their reply. Hi Barry, Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, at the moment we can only take names from people based in the UK. This is because the software that we use for our online actions relies in part on the UK postcode database to ensure that each electronic signature comes from an individual. However, you obviously know various people across Europe who feel strongly about this issue. Perhaps they could assist you by spreading the word about the campaign online, by posting about it on their Facebook, Twitter or any other social media they might use? They could also talk to or email any UK-based friends or family to tell them about the campaign and encourage them to get involved with 38 Degrees by going to www.38degrees.org.uk . Thanks for being involved, Ross and the 38 Degrees team
I got over this problem by using the postcode of the Australian High Commissioner in London (which is WC2B 4LA). My submission to the petition worked. Margaret in Oz.
