I have the images of marriages for two sisters in Boston in the late 1800's. To the best of my knowledge both of these girls moved out of the family home at marriage. Their mother was still alive and lived another 20 years. In both cases, the mothers name was recorded wrong in the record. It's not like the girls did not know their mother!
