Fellow Tyrone Listers - After several years searching, I am happy to report that I have traced my 2nd great grandparents McGarrity, and all but one of their children. Uncle John is still proving elusive. Michael McGarrity (son of John McGarrity and Rose O'Neill) married Sarah Hughes (daughter of James Hughes and Sarah Donnelly) just before Civil Registration. I still hope to find their RC marriage record. Michael died 22 Feb 1912, in Tyrone Sarah died 10 May 1891, in Tyrone Their children Mary, born 14 Aug 1864, immigrated to Philadelphia, married Michael J Donnelly, also from Tyrone. They had 6 children, 4 lived to adulthood. Mary died 28 Jul 1917 and is buried in Philadelphia. John, born 20 Jun 1866 - the elusive Catherine, born 21 Mar 1868 - my great grandmother, immigrated first to New York, then to New Jersey. Married first Thomas Nelis and second William L Donnelly, had 8 children, 5 lived to adulthood. Died 6 Feb 1951 in New Jersey. Sarah Anne, born 26 Mar 1870 - immigrated to Philadelphia. Died, single, 10 Sep 1888 of typhoid pneumonia and is buried there. Patrick, born 22 Nov 1871 - immigrated to Philadelphia. Died 21 Mar 1936 and is buried there. No known issue. Michael, 6 Feb 1874 - immigrated to Yorkshire North Riding. Married Sarah O'Neill, the daughter of Tyrone parents. Had 3 known children and died in Yorkshire in 1940. Margaret, born 18 Nov 1875 - stayed in Tyrone until after the death of her parents, then immigrated to the USA. Lived in New York City for a few years. Died 14 Jul 1932, single, no issue, in New Jersey and is buried with my GGM. James, born 1 Apr 1879 - died 20 Aug 1891 in Tyrone, of consumption. Thanks to everyone on this board who has offered support, advice and how-tos. I'll be taking a couple of weeks off from searching, to visit with family in warmer climes.
