    3. Hi Dennis, I looked up McCONKEY in MacLysaght's book 'The Surnames of Ireland' and Bernie was right. The book says "MacCONAGHY MacCONKEY MacDhonnchaidh (son of Donagh). The name of a branch of the Scottish clan ROBERTSON numerous in east Ulster. Ballymaconaghy is near Newry."
