My Grandmothers parents were Robert Baker and Isabelle Louise Darrah of Plattsburgh New York. Isabelle's parents were Chauncey Goodrich Darrah and Fanny Adelia Densmore. Peru New York. Chauncey's parents were David Darrah and Elizabeth (Betsy) E. Allen. Peru New York. Last night I found out that David's parents were Samuel and Sarah Darrah of Litchfield New Hampshire. Samuels father Robert Darrah came from County Tyrone Northern Ireland about 1738 eventually settling in Litchfield NH. I'm hoping to find out more about Robert Darrah in County Tyrone. Hi Just using the information from our wonderful Co Tyrone site I found this reference to the 1738 emigration to the US. http://www.cotyroneireland.com/emigration/newenglanda-d.html 'Darrah, Robert, of Litchfield, N.H.; from Ireland, 1738; m. 1. J--- McKean; m. 2. --- Blood; Children: Elizabeth, Robert, John, James, Polly, Peggy, Jane, Naomi, David, Samuel. -100th anniv of Bedford, p 297' A secondary reference as it is quoting from a publication and not the source. So you will need to verify the information. So seems to have been married twice. Also on the site is reference to an 1826 Tithe applotment for Darrah in Scraby in Kilskeery Then looked for Kilskeery (Google) and found on the Ireland XO site some www.irelandxo.com/sites/default/files/kilskeery_baptisms.xls a downloadable excel spreadsheet for Kilskeery and with the name Darragh, which is the way I have often seen it spelt. These go back to the mid 1700s. They list a residence which you could search to see where. Other versions of the name are Darrogh and Darrough Look on the Tyrone site for McKean, with all the different spellings. Also Blood. If the family died in NH then finding the death certificate for Jean/Jane/Jess McKean Darrah will let you know if the Blood marriage took place in Ireland or NH. I would search for all the marriages/deaths of all the children mentioned. That way you will be able to see patterns in the naming of the children. Look on Family Search if you have not already done so.
