    1. Re: [CoTyIre] COTYRONEIRELAND Digest, Vol 9, Issue 6
    2. Hello, I am hoping someone can resolve my confusion. My Mullin and Mellon great, great grandparents came from Tyrone County. I believe they entered the U.S. through the port of Philadelphia, PA. My mother attested before she deceased that Philadelphia was a port pre-Ellis Island. Is this correct, or did they enter Ellis and then go southward to Philadelphia? I probably appear naive which I sadly confess is reality! Laurie S. Personally I like to know these Facebookgroups exist and am a member of the Castlederg one. I have actually beenliving away from Castlederg for quite a long time albeit not much more thana half hour drive and I thought it wonderful when I found the Castlederggroup. Hope I will be forgiven for saying it here but my worst problem withFacebook is the amount of people who are addicted to it which includes mysister who never phones me with news now. The Gleneely/Plumbridge site also sounds interesting, only speaking formyself but like most names in Ireland, they often get shortened and we usedto call Plumbridge "The Plum" which I hope isn't offensive to the people wholive there. I think what I am trying to say to you, Ray and others who don't want tobecome involved with Facebook is that, if people on the list here know thatthese Facebook groups exist, and one is in their area of interest thenperhaps they can get someone to post a message on their behalf if they don'twant to join. I am only speaking from my own personal opinion, and the last thing I wouldwant to do is take anything away from this wonderful Tyrone list. I also do know ray and respect his and others opinion to Facebook. I myself am a New Yorker...and as someone else said I DO belong to FB in order to keep in touch with friends and relatives. I have never had any problems with them BUT I DO understand those that may feel violated by it. I did look at the Castlederg page...since my Armstrong / Buchanan may have lived near there. I have not been that involved in gen work for the last few years because I watch my grand daughter (Grammy care lol). My comment is...I understand everyone's fear...but just being online...being on a list, posting to Ancestry, putting pics on flckr...can all become invasive. I agree we all have our opinions and our choices....yet I feel nothing is "truly" safe today. In fact someone I met thru a list contacted me...though the line was not directly mine I gave the info to a cousin who was so excited she shared info with this person who also reciprocated. Unfortunately NOW this person has posted ALL the info on Ancestry that is hers and mine!!! SOOOO ????How safe are any of us? Just a thought! And...some of the info THAT person posted is WRONG! I give up! You try to help people and they take advantage. BUT that is how it is today! Just do what you like. I agree with everyone and respect their opinions. :) Have a wonderful day!
