I think it was this list that gave me the original idea for an American to subscribe to Ancestry through Ancestry.ca since the exchange rate is favorable. I wanted to pass on an extra special deal that's being offered right now. I opened my Ancestry guest acct. and there was an offer to purchase a year of Ancestry.ca World for $191 Canadian. I converted that online and it was under $175 US. My credit card charges 3% for foreign transactions which was about $5. If I did my math correctly, I just signed up for a year of Ancestry world for $180. Sure beats Ancestry.com's price of $300. Whoever first suggested the idea - Thanks!! Watch ancestry.co.uk as well.........I know I was told somewhere (probably in one of my groups) that it is often advantageous to subscribe through them, rather than ancestry.ca (I am in Canada). I recently purchased a 1 yr. World Deluxe subscription thru ancestry.co.uk (advertised to me thru a lostcousins.com newsletter as 25% off and if I subscribed through their link I would get a free 6 month subscription to Lost Cousins) My charge card registers a total charge of $182.49 Cdn total (taxes, etc.included)--sorry, this offer expired Jan.7/14--but keep an eye on them! Ancestry.ca's regular rate, if you pay for a year up front, is 24.95/mo x 12 = $299.40 and then there would be taxes on top of that I believe (13% HST maybe). I checked just now and a 1 year subscription (regular rate) to ancestry.co.uk today is 107.40 pounds sterling = 176.94 US or $191.59 Cdn. (I used an online converter). I see Ancestry.com now has another new subscription World Explorer Plus for $200 for 6 months! "Access all records on Ancestry.com, Newspapers.com & Fold3.com" They want us to spend our money! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, January 10, 2014 9:59 AM Subject: [CoTyIre] Ancestry I think it was this list that gave me the original idea for an American to subscribe to Ancestry through Ancestry.ca since the exchange rate is favorable.
