    3. Looking for more information about the Pikes in Aughnacloy. I know my 3x great grandfather was named Robert Pike. He was a school teacher in the area. This would be in 1860s-1880s. Possibly longer. Also his son James Pike was also a teacher. Any information on possible schools or even where to search for this info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Heidi Johnson. 3. Hello Heidi, and List. You MIGHT obtain some information from “Lewis’s Topographical Dictionary of Ireland” dated 1837. Here is a hyperlink to it, free, online; courtesy of the wonderful people at askaboutireland who give us the magnificent Griffiths Valuation. It is now many years since I have used Lewis, but I think that it is alphabetical by name of parish and or town etc. Try volume 1, for Aughnacloy, hopefully. Note also that the third link on their page is to MAPS! yay! My memory is that many of the entries provide details of schools in the area, including ‘hedge-schools’ etc. Even if you don’t find what you are asking for here, I feel sure that you will enjoy all of the fascinating information which they provide for each location. A top-notch resource.
