Perhaps others also find them interesting? Should I continue transcribing and submitting Abercorn rentals and valuations - feedback from listers will be useful. Pam, although your LAIRD forebears are not recorded in the pre 1800 rentals is not to say that they weren't living on the estate. Every farm contained several cottages; essential to house day labourers. These cottages were most rudimentary - generally consisting of two rooms, constructed of fieldstones with thatched roofs. They were of some concern to the Earl of Abercorn. 3. Hi Len! You wanted feedback regarding your Abercorn Estate transcriptions. My Robert and Jane McGee (GGG grandparents) came to Canada from Leckpatrick C.P. ca 1798, with 4 sons and a daughter. As you know, there were a few McGees of various spellings on the Abercorn Estate at that time, but I can't link any of them to my family. So yes, please continue your good work on this wonderful website! Pat McGee in Langley, BC, Canada. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Len Swindley via" <cotyroneireland@rootsweb.com> To: <pambarber07@gmail.com> Cc: "COTYRONEIRELAND@rootsweb.com" <cotyroneireland@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 22, 2015 5:49 AM Subject: Re: [CoTyIre] CoTyroneIreland.com - New Content > > > From: len_swindley@hotmail.com > To: swindley_lr@connexus.net.au > Subject: FW: [CoTyIre] CoTyroneIreland.com - New Content > Date: Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:45:15 +1000 > > > > > Hello Pam, Am delighted that you find my Abercorn Estate files > interesting; they are are a remarkable resource. 3. Hello Len Of course you must continue. You do an amazing job and the Abercorn estate records are fascinating even if you have no direct family there. My ancestors became tenants in the late 19th Century but I still find the history of the farm in earlier times interesting. Keep up the good work. We are all very grateful. 3. My apologies Len for not giving you due credit for the Abercorn postings. Your generosity is amazing - it must take you hours and hours and hours to amass and type that information. Can you expand a little on what concerned the Earl about the cottages? Their liability?
