I visited PRONI 6 weeks ago during a Co. Tyrone ancestral search trip. I was very impressed with everything. The receptionist was courteous getting me my Proni card in a few minutes. By the way, this card is good for life. I used the research room to get the index numbers, but did not use the microfilm readers. The staff were very helpful with great guidance on how to use the computer indexes for maximum information. I was impressed with the efficiency in receiving my reading room orders. No longer than 10-15minute wait. Just watch for your order number on the many monitors in the room. There is no rush ,take as long as you wish to review the ordered items. I was at PRONI on Tuesday May 26th during the morning and early afternoon and found it was not busy. One could choose most tables that you wished. I was told that Thursday evening is also not busy. I contacted the ministers of Ballygwaley & Aghnacloy Presbyterian Churches by e-mail before my trip to Ireland and made arrangements to visit their respective Churches to view the old record books. They were very accommodative ,producing the Baptism and Marriage registers dating back as far as 1818. I took photos of all the pertinent ones I needed. The Premier Inn across the street, is the only hotel I could see in the area. Edward Cobean Ontario Canada
