    3. Dear all— I’m hoping for advice about finding more information on my ancestral trail.  At this point, the furthest ancestor found is John HOUSTON Sr., b. 1728 in Co. Tyrone, d. 1808 in Newberry District, South Carolina.  Married Mary ROSS, b. 1732(?), origins unknown.  Emigrated c. 1760.   "Brief biographical accounts of many members of the Houston Family", by Rev Samuel Houston, describes them as true ‘blue stocking’ Presbyterians,  and indicates some disaster on their voyage to America meant that their family records were lost.  A Family Search record has John Sr’s father listed as Robert Houston, b. 1692, but no other information about him or a spouse.  I managed to get to PRONI but found nothing conclusive—the  most potentially promising record was not accessible due to concerns about its fragility.  If anyone has any potentially linked information, or can provide tips on where to turn next, I’d be most grateful.  Both online and in-person avenues for research welcomed.   Many thanks, Ben Houston
