    3. Hello Tyrone listers Although I am not researching in Tyrone I was helping some friends to get started on their search. We went to Omagh Branch library and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had an Alpha list of the 1901 Tyrone Census. They have the films at the library. So, If you are coming to Ireland to do research, You aren't researching too far back and the 1901 Census would help you, You only know that your relatives were from Tyrone but you don't know the Parish, this would be really good for you. This would be a lot easier than going to PRONI and searching every Parish. The Alpha list will show only the parishes that contain the name you are researching. The staff will print a list of the name you request and it will show the necessary films you need to look at and they will get you the films. They also have old local newspaper records and directories from about 1870. Google Omagh Branch Library and you will get the address and directions. I'm not suggesting you miss PRONI as the Omagh library don't have Church records but for the 1901 Census for Tyrone this is much, much easier and I should imagine if you are visiting here you will go to look at Tyrone as part of your journey. As far as I know no other County has done this but would be happy to find out that I was wrong! Lena
