Hi John wrote 'I suspect that release of the BMDs post 1922 violates the UKs privacy concerns' In Scotland full birth records are not able to be viewed till 100 years have passed; marriage records are 75 years and death records are 50 years. However if visiting the records office in person all records are available to view right up to 2006. Also the indexes to all birth, marriage and death records are available online at their pay to view site up to and including 2006. I cannot think,therefore, that would be the reason why LDS cannot allow access to the indexes to BMDs that they have up to 1958. I think it is more likely that the records offices and family history foundation might not make as much money.
