    3.   Dear All, I am looking for information on the Johnstons of Tyrone Ireland (1700s/early 1800s) who immigrated to the USA around 1826 and lived in Ohio. The information I have is Peter and Molly Johnston.  Peter was from Tyrone Ireland.  Supposedly he was killed in the Battle of Waterloo under Duke Wellington.  One of Peter's children was   William Johnston. b. 1801 in Tyrone Ireland. d. 1870 in Washington Co., Ohio.  He married Margaret ?.  They immigrated to the USA with their first son, George Wesley Johnston, around 1826/1827.  Another one of their sons, James Johnston (b 1827 in Ohio d 1886 in Washington Co., Ohio) was my great grandfather.  I have the descendents fairly well traced but need to go backwards from Peter.   Any information on the immigration ship of William, Margaret, and George Wesley Johnston would be appreciated from Tyrone to the USA around 1826/1826.   Any link to the ancestry of Peter Johnston would be appreciated.  Since he was killed in the Battle of Waterloo, I guess his birth year would be the late 1700s.   Thank you, Jo Fuller

    3. Jo, Researching Johnston/es in Ireland is somewhat akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. I'd suggest that you find a Johnston male from your line and have him do at least a 37-markers, Y-DNA test. This may very well put you in touch with a closely-connected Johnston as it did for me. We are now up to 33 Y-DNA cousins. The Johns(t)on/e Y-DNA project has one of the largest family data bases available. Cliff.
