Annie, the .fdb extension is a Legacy FamilyTree one, which stands for something like "familydatabase". I am a computer IL-literate, but in the past I have had similar problems to Teena, and I cannot recall how I rectified them. Basically, Legacy, like most family tree programs, uses a GEDCOM format, so that it can import and export genealogy files. YET, it seems that maybe WITHIN Legacy, its family tree files are .fdb It seems that when Teena lost her hard-drive, that she had a back-up file of her Legacy database, but it uses this file extension name of .fdb I had thought that Tammy's idea of just downloading a new free copy of the Legacy program (which anyone can do at any time free of charge), would do the trick -- BUT to my ignorant mind, I don't know HOW Teena could then TELL her Legacy program to FIND her .fdb data. Maybe with this sort of background, your skills might be able to help Teena. Hope so, as I am unable to. Thanks for trying to help her; she is so wonderful to this list, and has been for so very long, that it would be great to be able to find an easy solution for her.
