    3. Tammy- Church of Ireland. Someone more knowledgeable will have to explain its relationship to the Church of England and the Presbyterian. 3. The Church of Ireland is part of the Anglican communty of Churches - same thing as the Church of England, just a different place and name. In the U.S.A. it is the Episcopal Church. The Presbyterian Church has nothing to do with any of the above mentioned Churches aside from the very basic fact that all are Christian. The C.of I./C.of E. have much the same structure as the Roman Catholic Church, save for some important hierarchical and theological differences. Power is in the hands of the clergy flowing down from the top. In the Presbyterian Church there is significant participation and input from the lay members. The moderator is elected. Assemblies gather to decide theological matters, etc.. The parish ministers do not handle the finances of the parish. This is left to a lay member/committee. This was done to sever the corrupting properties inherent in a minister/priest being responsible for raising large sums of money from his parishoners and to allow the minister to devote his full time to his parishoners and their wants and needs.
