    3. Good morning again, This is to confirm that I hit Reply All and it seems to have done what I expected it to do. I am subscribed to a number of Rootsweb lists for genealogy. I have become used to them, but they are unlike Yahoogroups in that at first they require some getting used to. The golden rule in all these Lists and Groups is that the configurations or settings are how the List or Group owner wishes. In Yahoo one gets so used to just hitting "Reply" that its almost a subconscious effort. In Rootsweb it needs one to think first! Yahoo groups seem to tend to want to keep members discussing in group posts rather than between themselves. I was recently subscribed to a Rootsweb list for a Scottish area and was surprised at how much back channel communication there was, and they wanted it to remain that way. To my way of thinking, doing things that way it limits the amount of knowledge that might be shared around might not reach those who would like to read it and, who might add to it. Janet

    3. Hi Janet, Some rootsweb mailing list have well over 400-500 members, I admin some of those. On list traffic would chase away most. I also belong to the Genealogy-dna list at rootsweb (my cousin admins it) ... well into 1000 members and traffic of about 200 per day. So having the choice as the list's admin is preferable. The two, Yahoogroups and rootsweb are not comaparable. Both are good for there own reasons. There are good message boards at rootsweb and genforum. they to are different even though they are owned by same company.... You use where your comfortable. nelda
