Once again I have resumed duties as the County Tyrone, Northern Ireland site. I have received a few emails with requests that I hope to get to today, therefore, if you sent an email to me at this address I will respond. Feel free to send me any suggestions or requests that you might have. I look forward to being of service to you on this list and others who have a historical and genealogical connection to County Tyrone. Someday, I hope to once and for all find the roots of my Irish Ancestors. The surnames I am researching, which I have not found the particular Irish location for are, CASEY, ROSS, and NEAL. My ROSS family appears to have been members of the Presbyterian Church, my CASEY's I am not sure. The NEAL's were Baptist for the most part in America. I have a DICKEY line on my Grandmother's side which is undoubtedly Irish...he had red hair and played the fiddle. One of my ROSS' played the bagpipes, had a kilt, and spoke with an "Scottish" dialect well into the 20th Century. How they were able to distinguish between the Irish and Scottish dialect I am not sure. It must have been passed down through the family that we originated from Scotland. I have no doubt that my Hugh Ross, who served in the American Revolution, might have been expelled from Scotland to Northern Ireland before coming to this country. That is a little about me and I look forward to reading the emails as they come in. Good luck in your research and if you think I can help, please feel free to ask. Just a note of clarification -- the site Richard is referring to is not our group's website (run by Teena), rather it's the Northern IrelandGenWeb one. -Clare L. -----Original Message----- Subject: [CoTyIre] County Tyrone, NI Coordinator <<< Once again I have resumed duties as the County Tyrone, Northern Ireland site.
