Dear Susan & other list members who are thinking of transcribing, When I create the web page from the documents you send in, I basically cut and paste your content into a pre-designed template. Font is not important, the site template handles what the font will look like, not the font in the document. This includes style, size and effects ie, bold or italic. What is important is your formatting, regarding titles and paragraphs. As long as you have those set up the way you want them, I will maintain that type of formating. Here are some guidelines: - I don't read what is sent to me, so please spell check. - If you want to draw attention to a surname, put it in capitals, not bold. (the bolding will be lost upon conversion to the template) - When possible, include who transcribed the document (your credit) in the document, not just on the email (sometimes the two get separated). -If you didn't actually transcribe a document yourself, but you have permission to send in something that someone else has done. Please ask permission to send it to us for posting on the site. In cases like this your credit should be something like: Transcribed by 'other person', submitted with permission by 'me'. - If your document contains tables please send it in .doc or .rtf format, and remember when you save it to include the .rtf at the end of the file name ie: 'save as' filename.rtf or filname.doc. Example page (of a tabled document): http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cotyroneireland/births/coagh.html - If your document is best shown as a list, you can just type it into an email and send it to me that way. Example page (of a list document): http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cotyroneireland/tithe/tithe_Clogher.html I hope this takes some of the mystery regarding transcription. Thanks for generating this comment Susan. cheers Tammy - Cwllmsgrpnc@aol.com wrote: > Dear Tammy, > > Teena forwarded your email address so I could contact you for directions > on formatting the transcriptions for Donaghendry Old Graveyard.
