    3. Reference Marriages: Lena wrote:> " Full names of the married couple and bride's maiden name. I think you will find that the answer is "Yes". As Dublin holds the Volume Books prior to 1922, Belfast Registry Office has to rely on the Church copies (you say Belfast R.O has their own Index database for marriages). In a Registration Area there would be a number of churches involved and knowing which church would be an enormous help with a search. The Volume and Page No. given on the LDS Pilot Site refers to the Volume(s) that Dublin holds - not the church record. Perhaps the following may help to understand what a Registration Area is:- To explain a Registration Area we must look at Poor Law Unions:- These areas were set up under the Poor Law Relief Act (1838). Rates, land-based taxes, were collected within these areas for maintenance of local poor. They were named after a local large town. The same districts later became used as General Registrar's Districts. These General Registrar's Districts are the areas within which birth, deaths, and marriages were collected. The areas do not always conform to county boundaries. Remember also, the LDS have filmed the Dublin held volumes for marriages 1845-1870 (protestant) and 1864-1870 (catholic), so you can search them yourself and obtain a copy if you are able to visit the LDS familyhistory libraries. However, if you can't, and you don't know the name of the church, you will have to contact Dublin (which, sadly, you can't do online as yet, but they say they are working on it). Regards Alma
