Hello Friends A heads up for anyone ordering from the new on-line LDS Ireland Civil Registrations. I just sent in an order for 16 certificates and received only 1 back. The reply I rec'd on my 1st order states "The film numbers you gave us are of indexes. You have the information that is on these films. We made no copies from these films. The family history library does not have the death and birth records of Ireland for the years you are requesting (re 1875-1916 ) with the exception of the birth record for 1908." The 2nd letter I rec'd We are sorry we cannot send the information you requested. The film numbers that you gave are indexes only. (These numbers are from the Ireland Civil registration of the LDS found at http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347) please check the family History Library Catalog for the correct numbers. signed the Photoduplication Unit I thought I'd send this to the list for other folks who, maybe like me, and thought it would be easy to order copies. No such luck. I suppose I'll now have to spend hours searching the library Catalog for the right film numbers. (Unless someone one the list already has them??? If anyone does, maybe they could post them for the benefit of all others? Cheers~ Teena
Teena and all ... I just returned from Dublin, where I went in person to the General Registry office for several certificates. I found that there was no need/use for film numbers ... only the volume and page numbers for each birth/death/marriage entry. These are included along with the film/image numbers in the LDS online registrations index. Apparently volume and page are still the definitive locators for the records/certificates. Hello Teena, When you look at the Library Catalogue just do a Film/Fiche search and put in the film number that you find on the pilot site. This will take you direct to the section that has the Index film numbers as well as the Volume film number which are the ones required. Scroll down until you see the year and volume number and you will find the film number that you require. I haven't done any ordering for years, but from memory, you have to give the page number as well as the film number. The LDS have not filmed every year and you can see from the Library Catalogue which years have been filmed. Bye for now Alma ----- Original Message ----- From: "Teena" <4theloveoftyrone@gmail.com> To: <CoTyroneIreland-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 20, 2009 3:14 PM Subject: [CoTyIre] Ireland Civil registrations > Hello Friends > > A heads up for anyone ordering from the new on-line LDS Ireland Civil > Registrations.
