Greetings all, I too am hunting for elusive relatives! One is a Joseph Bayne who is found living with a family of McGuckian's in the 1911 census (house 114 Church St, Cookstown urban) I think this Joseph married a Catherine Rooney and died of wounds WWI, he is buried in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Derryloran. Most of the Bayne's I am tracking around Cookstown are Presbyterian - there may be no connection. On the other hand, this Joseph is 9 years older than his next eldest sibling. Was he from a former marriage, and did his mum remarry and then his stepdad die (Jane is listed as a widow)? Here is the information in case anyone recognises the family and can throw further light on the matter. Would love to find the birth or death of James McGucken and establish a mothers name. James marries Sarah Sloan born 1883 Clonavaddy, County Tyrone to James Sloan and Sarah Oliver. James marries Sarah 2nd Aug 1900 at 2nd Presbyterian Church, Parish of Derryloran, Cookstown, Ireland. Would the actual Church record have parents listed? James and Sarah have a son Robert McGucken b 1909 in Cookstown, County Tyrone. Unknown when James and Sarah died, but it was in Cookstown. James was a Publican living at 3 Old Cookstown Road, Cookstown Urban, Tyrone on 1911 census. Sarah was with him. Robert McGucken b 1909, marries Olive Sharpe pre 1937 when daughter Edna is born. I am searching for the marriage of this couple, and would love to find the birth of Olive, probably after 1911. Or the death of Olive. Robert died 1980 in Cookstown. Dear David, I am not sure if you looked at the original 1911 census image or just the transcribed extract, but the BAYNE you mention in that census entry is listed as a son of Jane McGUCKIAN, the head of household. I hope that's helpful. FYI the 1901 Census is due to be available at the same web site by year's end (keep your fingers crossed) Clare L.
