Does anyone have connection to/or knowledge of Conwells from Donaghmore? My g.g.grandfather, Anthony Conwell was a farm worker who lived in the townland of Tullyleek (Donaghmore parish) before leaving Ireland for Scotland around the time of the Great Famine. The family (his wife Elizabeth Coye and children Daniel, Thomas, Patrick, Elizabeth, Ann and Mary) settled in Holytown, Lanarkshire and later moved to Leith, Midlothian when the family name became McConville. Coincidentally (or not?) the parish priest of the RC church in Donaghmore was Daniel Conwell (Convil) who is listed in the Tithe Applotment Records (1820s) as administering properties in Tullyleek. Perhaps he was a relative. Any thoughts or info welcomed. I'm aware of other Conwells in the area eg Anthony's brother William and Eugene/ Catherine Conwell Co-sponsors at the Church baptism of Elizabeth Conwell (16/09/1845). Best regards Malcolm McConville
