Hi Deb, The GRO (for the Republic of Ireland) is no longer in Dublin, it was moved to Roscommon a few years ago although it still retains a research facility in Dublin which has moved from Lombard Street to The Irish Life Centre, Lower Abbey Street. You can only order photo copies from Dublin if you are on a personal visit to the research room there. If you want to order by post you have to send to Roscommon now. You can order photo copies for 4 Euro each (when reference numbers are supplied) although it doesent say so on the GRO's website. You can order photo copies (sufficient for family history purposes), from the GRO in Roscommon for the six counties of Northern Ireland up until 1921. Unfortunately they haven't developed a secure online payment system yet, methods of payment currently acceptable are mentioned on their website, the link follows and also a link to the General Register Office of Northern Ireland. http://www.groireland.ie/ http://www.groni.gov.uk/ Hope this is of some help, Bernie -----Original Message----- From: cotyroneireland-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:cotyroneireland-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Deborah Fox Sent: 01 December 2009 20:13 To: cotyroneireland@rootsweb.com Subject: [CoTyIre] BMD I remember a discussion on this list about going in person to the GRO in Dublin and obtaining BMD certificates. I believe it was a discussion within the past year. However, I am not finding the thread in the archives. I am looking for the address of the building in Dublin and the website. I keep getting a Roscommon online site. I do have the Lombard Street address, but I thought I remembered that there was a discussion on this list about the ordering office being elsewhere and the discussion had other information. Anyone with better archive search skills who can direct me to the thread, or anyone with the information about getting to the Dublin GRO and ordering BMD certificates in person, please reply.
