Can someone point me to a web site that lists all the parish names in County Tyrone? I know of only one: Clonoe but would like to see the spelling of all the others.
Hi Fred Go to County Tyrone Genealogy at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tyrone/parishes/index.html Kevin ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fred Hagan" <keystone72@gmail.com> To: <COTYRONEIRELAND@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 03, 2009 11:25 PM Subject: [CoTyIre] Tyrone County Parish Names > Can someone point me to a web site that lists all the parish names in > County > Tyrone? Hello Fred. The best and easiest way that I know of is this: 1. go to www.seanruad.com 2. scroll down the home page to their SECOND search-box, which is headed up "show me a list of parishes in the selected county"... 3. select Tyrone for the county 4. press SUBMIT 5. Voila! you should have your results. I would add one further comment, which is that these resulting Parish names are showing only one 'standardised' spelling; whereas we know from our other Irish research that alternative spellings in Ireland abound, not only for surnames, but also for most placenames. PRONI also has a nice site which provides a map of all the parishes in each of the six counties and a listing of all townlands in each parish.
