To all, I hope somebody can help me with information on Fletchers in County Tyrone. Here is what I have found so far. John James Fletcher, my grandfather, emigrated from Dunnamanagh to Manitoba, Canada in 1911. I have obtained two documents from the GRO, his birth registration, 23 Oct 1871 at Tullyard, under the name of Fladger, son of Thomas Fladger and Hannah, formerly Stewart. In attendance at birth was Eliza Chambers. I obtained the marriage registration of his parents, Thomas Fletcher and Hannah Chambers, 15 Dec 1868, Church of England and Ireland, Donagheady, where Thomas' father is given as also Thomas. No names given for Hannah's parents. I would like to find the birth of Thomas Fletcher, which should be in 1844 according to the marriage certificate and that of Hannah Chambers which should be 1849. Emerald Ancestors doesn't have either. Also the GRO only has birth registrations from 1864 onwards. A mystery surrounds Hannah. I could not find a Hannah Stewart, but I did find a Hannah Chambers, born 1 August 1849 who was baptized at Donagheady on 27 Dec 1884 and her parents are given at that time as Eliza Chambers and Archibald Griffin. Since the birth year is correct for Hannah and since Eliza Chambers was present at Hannah's son's birth (John james), I think this might be the Hannah married to Thomas Fletcher, but no proof. Also, my grandfather, John james, always knew of his mother as Hannah Chambers, not Stewart. Since Hannah was only 18 at time of marriage to Thomas Fletcher, it seems unlikely that she would have been married before to a Stewart. I had the other children of this family from family records, but only year of birth, but have found all but the last one in the Emerald Ancestors database. Father Mother Birth 1. Fanny (Parish) Thomas fletcher Hannah 12 Oct 1884 Donagheady (married Thomas Spence, emigrated to Canada 1927 but family returned to Ireland after a few years). 8. Margaret Jane(Parish) Thomas Fletcher Hannah 26 Aug 1886 Strabane, (married a Monteith) 9. A Boy Since I have hit a brick wall for now, if anyone (perhaps from the Buchanan, Walker, Monteith, Spence families) have any information on the Thomas fletcher - Hannah Stewart or Chambers births or their brothers and sisters, parents, etc. it would be really appreciated.
