    2. Michael, It looks like Edendoit to me.. That townland is in the Barony of Dungannon Upper, Civil Parish of Desertcreat, in the Por Law Union of Cookstown. -----Original Message----- From: MICHAEL BURNS <aardvarkgs@btinternet.com> To: cotyroneireland@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 2 Apr 2009 4:31 pm Subject: [CoTyIre] Adendoiti Co Tyrone Hi I recently found a reference to Adendoiti, Tyrone, home of the Corr family, who may be ancestors of mine, however a google search revals no returns for this location, presumably the spelling is wrong. 1. [CoTyIre] Strabane Obituary
    2. Hi Listers. I am looking for the obituary of an Alexander Henderson who dies in the thrid quarter or 1900 in the Strabane Reg District. I am hoping he will be from Keenaghan in Leckpatrick Parish and have sent for his death certificate. However, I went in to Strabane Library and looked for the obituary and found that the only paper they had on microfilm was the Strabane Chronicle and it had virtually no obituaries that I could see. I am much more used to researching in Donegal and Derry so, my questions are these: 1. Is the Strabane Chronicle the only/most likely paper for someone to place an obituary in 1900 or is there another paper and where can I access it? 2. Do I need new spectacles, or are there very few obituaries in the Strabane Chronicle? Thanks, Boyd Gray http://familytrees.genopro.com/boydgray26/Boyd/default.htm

We can document four siblings: Patrick b. 1839, Michael b.? Catherine b. 1855 (Parish Donacavey, Fintona), James H. b. 1856, (Parish Donacavey, Fintona). Patrick, Catherine, and James H. immigrated to America 1863-1867? They all first moved to Cincinnati, Ohio after arriving in America. Michael, the brother died 1912 near Fintona. We know Michael b. 1820 had a larger family. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Neal Middlebrook

    3. Here's about as complete a list as I've seen, for Tyrone townlands. Nothing starts with Ad. However, there's an Edenatoodry, sort of similar. Perhaps you'll find something even closer, on the list http://applications.proni.gov.uk/geogindx/towntyro.htm _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live™: Keep your life in sync. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_allup_1a_explore_042009

    3. Thank you, Marilyn, for the input and you, Dave, for the chuckle. I have to confess that I did not get back to 1753 through my own research per se, except through the discovery of one book. In 1905, Dr. George Wilds Linn, great-grandson of my 1753 Hugh Linn, published the family's history as told to him by his grandfather, Hugh Linn II, who was a boy when the family emigrated. It is sad that so little remains of early Ulster records of a genealogical nature. I have mine in Tyrone back only to 1837, then only one ancestor, and, although I know his parents' names from his baptismal record, I don't know their dates or any other information. About the only way I've found to get the names of the mothers is from death information of the fathers, and then only in the USA, at least so far. Usually death certificates list parents' names, although if you get too far back all you might get is the mother's first name, not first and maiden surname. I am not saying to give up...but sometimes...you have to wait and hope that eventually something will turn up on LDS or some other searchable site. My ancestors who came to the USA left no trace of information about their ancestors in Co. Tyrone or anyplace else in Ireland, Scotland or England. Once again, I wish somebody had had a surname like "XARTXOZ" to make searching easier. Good luck with your search! 3. You are so right Pat! I have hit many roadblocks in my search for greatgrandmothers who are entered into church burial records only as "Mrs." Sharpe, not their own given names, let alone a maiden name. As a result, they lie in unmarked graves until I can determine their full names, something that I am attempting to do. > From: patoneill@bigpond.com > To: CoTyroneIreland-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 1 Apr 2009 14:44:31 +1100 > Subject: [CoTyIre] searching for family > > Searching for grandmothers and the like is a wonderful merry-go-round, isn't it?
