    2. I am fairly new to researching in Ireland, and at a loss as to how to find marriage, birth or death information. Is there any site such as the one England has for BDM's? With no census records available, how does one find any information about ancestors in Ireland? Help please!! thanks Dawn

    1. Re: [CoTyIre] Graham Naturalization
    2. Claire, Thank you for your response. I am aware that this list is for Irish research which is where I have been spending my time for my grandfather with nothing but deadends. However, frequently such efforts spill over to the US as in my case. As we have stated, the certificate contains little information which is why I am seeking the application hoping to find immigration and any other items of use in the Irish research. My problem is not that I can't find his naturalization information but that I can't find where these records are archived in order to look for his. His witness is his brother for which I have the same lack of information and I feel that the application would have been filed with the same 18th/6th district court. Incidentally, this judicial consolidation probably contributes to their inability to identify the record storage. Again, I thank you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Claire K" <seekay@comcast.net> To: "stephen graham" <stephen.graham@comcast.net> Cc: cotyroneireland@rootsweb.com, graham@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, April 9, 2009 5:48:52 AM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific Subject: Re: [CoTyIre] Graham Naturalization Stephen, This is really a question better aimed at a US list, or specifically an Iowa list. 3. It could be that the RW servers are backlogged again. Periodically, mail gets stuck in the mail queue, even while later-sent mail gets through. It's something with RW's servers, not anything I can do anything about, unfortunately. Claire K. 3. Hi Lyn, Do you have any more info on Joseph Cook? I fear it will be a very common name in Philadelphia (I have some Cooks who married in to collateral lines, so I pay a little attention to Cooks when I come across them, enough to get a sense that there are a far number of them). Is the "c.1848" in your subject line Joseph's YOB? or the time period you think he was in Phila.? Are you looking for him in the 1850 Phila. census? Can you tell us anything about spouse, children, siblings, parents -- anyone he might be associated with in Phila., so we can ID him from all the possible matches? 3. Hi Norah, I think you ordered the certs. from GRONI? (PRONI has church records, but not vital records). Sorry, I can't tell you how long it takes -- I've only ever ordered certs from GRONI in person. Maybe someone else on the list can tell us about the current turnaround time for mail orders? I would hope that, if they've deducted the fee, it means they're working on your request, though. Does anyone know that for sure? 3. Hi Norah, I strongly suggest you get the death record. Have you considered the possibility that 30 yo Lily McDougall might be a McD by marriage? That would explain why you can't find a birth that matches for a Lily McD. The death cert. will tell you whether she was single or married, so is your best first step, IMO. (Or, maybe you can find a death notice for her that will tell you whether she's a "wife of" or "daughter of"). Then you'll know whether you need to be searching for her marriage (to find her maiden name) or her birth record next. Hope that helps. Claire K. 2. I suggest getting the death certificate - a family member may have been the one informing the Registrar of the death & would be noted. The cert will also give the address or townland for the decedent & the informant. 1901 Census Index Co. Tyrone (Largy Books, 1995). Even without the death certificate placename, you can check Linda Meehan's alphabetical index which will give you some of the key details from the census as well as the LDS microfilm number & a reference to the individual enumeration form. Perhaps you'll find her parents & siblings. Good luck. -Clare L. -----Original Message----- From: Norah Glaus <norahglaus@optusnet.com.au> To: cotyroneireland <cotyroneireland@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wed, 8 Apr 2009 08:14:05 +0800 Subject: [CoTyIre] Lily Mc Dougall I'm trying to piece together the Mc Dougall family from Omagh and Strabane in the late 1800 early 1900 era.
