    1. [CoTyIre] GUY family - 1911 Census
    2. A & K Hitchcock
    3. Good morning everyone I have found a family in the 1911 Census, who I suspect may be the siblings of my g-grandfather. There are 4 unmarried adults living in Maine, Cappagh, in the 1911 census. Their names and ages are: John Guy, 67 - Head of family James Guy, 65 - brother Annie Guy 56 - sister Matilda Guy, 47 - sister The family were Presbyterian. Has anyone seen burials/headstones for these folks. Dates could be anything after 1911, given the ages. My g-grandfather had another sibling, Elizabeth Guy b 1868. I have no details of her, apart from her birth. Parents John Guy and Jane (nee Robb). Lizzie Matchett lived on land owned by John Guy, as did Joseph Osborne, in another house. I do not know if they had any connection with the Guy family. Thoughts/suggestions welcome :) Cheers Karen Auckland, NZ

    3. Hello Janet. Welcome to the world of genealogy, and how nice to read your lovely greeting to Tyrone listers. I hope that they might be able to help you out with aspects of your research. I don't have anything in Ireland to help you with, but just in case you are not aware of a couple of oz sources which might be relevant to your researches, I am putting them in here for you. Firstly: Given that your WILSON family was in Gerringong, (NSW, Oz -- for non-oz listers), I'd suggest that you join the rootsweb NSW-SE (New South Wales - South East) list. The list administrator is John GRAHAM, who has undertaken LOTS of deep research in the region. Here is a link about that list: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/AUS/AUS-NSW-SE.html I'd also suggest looking through the ARCHIVES to that list, at your leisure. (However I've been told that you can search in those archives but I don't know how to do that. My computer stuff is limited to e-mails and accessing web-pages. ha ha.) ALSO: Are you aware of the 2 Pioneer Registers issued a few years back by the Wollongong Family History / Genealogy Society? Lots of great quality content. You should be able to get it on Inter-Library loan via your local public library -- and the Queensland Family History Society might also have it in their collection. If you haven't yet used the Immigration Deposit Journals at NSW State Records -- in their ARK/GRK which you should be able to access in Brisbane, not least at Oxley Library, I'd guess - but probably also at the Qld FHS library. I'd suggest first using the INDEXES to the Immigration Deposit Journals, issued on microfiche by Pastkeys. And you have probably already done the Shipping and Immigration Lists; judging by the townland information which you have already. Hoping that some of this might be helpful to you; and apologising if you have already done all of this. AND of course, if you havne't yet found it, you will be sure to find LOTS of relevant information in our own County Tyrone web-site, which is usually shown at the foot of most postings to the list. Finally, for your county Fermanagh MULDOONs etc., if you haven't yet done so, I'd suggest joining the Fermanagh-Gold list. Here is the link to info for that: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/NIR/FERMANAGH-GOLD.html Good Luck. 3. Hello wonderful fellow descendants from County Tyrone, I am a novice to genealogy research. I am loving the emails from the Co. Tyrone Ireland digest. I was wondering if anyone had access to information on my g.g.grandfather Joseph Wilson married to Elizabeth (Eliza) Ross from the Parish of Ardstraw. Joseph's son Andrew Wilson, my g.grandfather was born 1830 in Rastiner or Ratyn. in Ardstraw, Co. Tyrone. Andrew Wilson married his first wife Ann Maxwell, (also from Ardstraw, Tyrone) in Australia on 5th January 1865. After Ann's death on 6th September 1875, Andrew married Susan Muldoon, my g.grandmother, on the 22nd Feb 1877 in Gerringong, Australia. Susan Muldoon was born in Co. Fermanagh Ireland, the daughter of "Christie" Christopher Muldoon and Ann Gilbert. Any information would be gratefully received. 1. Re: [CoTyIre] Bracky

    3. Hi Ron, When I first read your email, I thought you meant that the townland borders changed over time, or the administrative divisions (District Electoral Divisions or Registrar's Districts, for instance) did, and you were looking for a map showing which parts of the townland fell into which administrative division, etc., at various time periods. But I see Ray has read your email as asking for the townland details, showing all the individual farms. If you are looking for the detail map that shows the individual farms / fields, you want 1) Griffith's Valuation maps and 2) any updates to those maps associated with the subsequent Annual Revisions (called the Canceled Land Books outside Ulster and in most "how to" books). The originals for both 1 and 2 are at PRONI, photocopies (at least of category 1) are at the Ulster Folk Park in Tyrone -- and to my knowledge, both are accessible only in person. AskAboutIreland.ie seems to have pretty detailed maps for Termonmaguirk (showing farm / field boundaries and numbers) -- so you could find a particular farm tied to the map reference in Griffith's Valuation, if that's what you're looking for. As far as I know, the category 2 maps are only available at PRONI -- but maybe some have been digitized for the AskAboutIreland site?? You'd have to search to find out. Here's the Irish Times / John Grenham site page that takes you to the GV map on AskAboutIreland for Bracky in Termonmaguirk, in case you have trouble getting there from the AAI site directly. <http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm? fuseaction=TownlandsInCivil&civilparishid=2365&civilparish=Termonmaguirk &citycounty=Tyrone> If you're looking for something else, can you please clarify? Maybe we'll have a better answer for you if we better understand what you're looking for. Regards, Claire K. 3. Hello Ron. This is a great question! I say that because my experience has been that I have never seen any map which breaks down into anything smaller than the total townland. I do recall having seen a Griffiths Valuation map which showed the locations of several residences on the one townland; but nothing which further breaks down the townland into segments 'owned' by separate individuals. I have never seen the Valuation Books / Maps, so my guess is that if we are likely to find any such, they might be a source. Similarly, I have never seen manorial records at all, so I am unaware whether some of those might have maps further sub-dividing townlands. Hopefully our more knowledgeable members with mapping knowledge will be able to assist. 2. Good Evening, I am looking for the origins of my gg grandmother - Elizabeth McFarland.? She married my gg grand father James Matthews, of Harvey, Westmoreland ( later Albert ) County, New Brunswick, Canada. Acccording to a local historian of families of the area,? Elizabeth was born 10 Oct 1804, in Ireland.? In the 1851 Census of Canada, she states she wwas born in Ireland and came to over here in 1827.?? Elizabeth died at Alma / Pointe Wolfe in Oct 1882.?? Her age so stated as 88 which does not agree wit the 1804 date.? She is buried in the Alma United Cemetery.? She also had a sister Nancy McFarland who possibly caame with her. Her parents are thought to be Andrew and Catherine and they came to the Hopewell, Alma, Westmoreland/Albert area in 1833.?? Why they came after their daughter is a puzzle. They are believed to be Weslyan Methodists and possibly came from the Strabane area.?? I found a record of an Andrew McFarland who sailed from Londonderry on Board the Edward Reid, sailed? 11 June 1833. Thank you Phil Matthews Readfield, Maine
